Bot and top lane differences?

Dear Memers and Flamers,

I've been playing league for a good 2 years now (Oh my god the time spent on this game) and what I've noticed is that bot lane and bottom lane are the same yet different meta? The on,y differences between lanes are Barron, dragon, the bushes and the jungle camps. However this makes me raise the question, when and why. When did bot become marksman and support and top lane have the tank/fighter? Why is this still the meta? Is it only because people know how to play this? Is it because it's like this in the lcs?

I noticed when mord had his 15 minutes of fame bot lane that Rito may have been trying to shift the meta a bit. Does any one know of any future plans that might make bot and top lane just random lanes that you can take a marksman top and a Darius Leona bot?

Supports don't need farm to be useful, so you place them in a lane with a champion who requires farm but not-so-much levels.

ADCs require farm more then levels to be useful and benefit from having an ally to support them early, protecting them and feeding them kills. They are also quite squishy and benefit from having a support to ward against ganks for them.

Top lane is isolated from the rest of the map for much of the game, so you want them to be able to hold their own. You want a champion who benefits from solo farm and experience who is capable of both snowballing their lead when ahead and surviving when behind. Tanks and bruisers can survive the lane by building defensively if necessary or build damage if they have an advantage and rely on their innate durability.

The main reason that you send the ADC/support bottom lane instead of a tank/bruiser is dragon. This placement means that you have four people near dragon (mid, adc, support, jungler) instead of three to help take or contest it.

ADCs are a reliable source of sustained dps and are positioned in bot due to the proximity to dragon; tanks and fighters usually go top as they typically have the sustain to survive the laning phase with little to no help as an ADC needs.
