Can someone explain what determines how much LP you gain/lose in ranked?

Like how does your MMR factor into that and does your gain/loss change if you duo with someone above or below you in rank?

You win and lose LP based on your MMR. If your MMR is below the league average, the one you are in, you lose more and win less.

If it is higher, you win more and lose less.

Seems a bit backwards to me, but that is how it works.

That's because if your MMR is higher than your league, the system feels like you should be ranked higher so it's trying to quickly move you through the current league.

If your MMR is low and the system thinks you belong lower and is trying to make sure you prove yourself before you climb.

Makes sense to me.

Ahh makes sense. Like right now I get +25ish per win and -12ish per loss. But that's strictly based on my MMR and that of my current division? What if I were to duo with someone in plat or silver? Our combined MMR would be different than my solo queue MMR, so would that affect my LP Gains?

You would be playing with people greatly higher than you but would still earn the same amount of LP.

So, if i beat people who are supposedly better than me according to the system, i get diddly squat, but if i lose to people who are supposedly better than i am, i get my LP hardcore raped?

That sounds like a pretty fair system........

Negative, You got about half of that correct. You will gain the same, if you beat someone from a higher ELO/MMR rating. But if you lose from those players that have a much higher ELO/MMR rating, the game wont screw you and over penalize you. You will actually lose less points then you would from fighting someone with a lower ELO/MMR rating than you.
