Dear RIOT, For christmas I want... ( Ranked Role Select Rant)

I recently came here from DotA 2 on the incorrect rumor said thusly by my buddy. "You can totally select your role like mid or support or whatever in LoL". Now I can tell you this is a talked about rumor alot and people are pushing to have this in DotA (ranked draft/bans per normal just with selecting your role) AND it doesn't even work as well in Dota due to you either having a trilane in safelane or a jungle and duo safelane (or a aggro trilane).

This feature is actually important enough that I was willing to switch games for this feature alone as a semi-pro player who would have to learn the nuances of a different MobA and basically start over.

To be able to select my role before going into ranked. I just want to play a MobA without having to worry if we have no competent support or a competent jungler or ANY of the lanes for that matter. I have stopped playing ranked and only play teambuilder which also sucks due to no bans, no draft, no competitive spirit. As a former Masters SC2 player, 5.3k Dota I am about to either ragequit the genre and go play counterstrike (where you only have to worry about too many awpers) or I will go play one of the other 50 MobA's around, some of which have role selection WITH NONE OF THE THEORETICAL PROBLEMS THIS COMMUNITY SEEM TO KEEP BRINGING UP I MAY ADD.

PS: Im not sure how it works but the idea of minorly adjusted rating based on said selected role would be a nice feature for when I queue adc, play maybe 10% worse due to not playing much adc, rating could reflect that 10% difference when I queue adc. Would be cool too.

Simple if "meta" means that much to you **stay out of the solo (random) ques ** and build your own team.

(either with invite my team mates ( ranked) or teambuilder ( normal's)

since your new here you may not know these tips .

1 riot does NOT enforce a meta so play what very you feel is fun in whatever lane you can get

( no matter anyone says you cant be reported for "not playing meta" no matter what category they try to put it into and trust me they will try to say it fits into many )

2 mute all is your friend use its regularly until riot comes to its senses and just removes chat from all random ques

3 Dont intentionally be disruptive , As long as you don't intentional feed or otherwise try to intentionally disrupt the game all the "im going to report you mean nothing . "unskilled reports " don't really do anything and all the others

I don't see any valid argument against here. Im also under the impression your not allowed to just play whatever you want or I would be seeing more of these people who call a role simply locking the role or saying "going X role no matter what" and ending up with 2 of the same role.

Which ones by the way, as for downsides, the fact that higher elo, games would take even longer to find and people would troll pick, or pick out of the meta and people would whine.

Well with the new tribunal supposedly coming soon and apparently only getting 1 warning and 3 strikes your perma banned.. I doubt people will be trolling as much at higher rating.

Depends what your definition of trolling is .. anything in my above post is not considered trolling by riot .

what these new restriction are targeting

verbal abuse negative attitude blatant intentional feeding and other such behaviors.

You don't see a valid argument huh.. what your asking for is for riot to enforce a meta...

As i mentioned earlier Riot does not enforce meta

Let see if i can explain that concept better for you.

Riot doesn't enforce meta .... **So you could end technically Yes end up with 2 or more of the same type (role) **

technically speaking everyone could choose all acd if they wanted to .

So that means At any stage bronze to diamond that there are no "rules" as to who i pick or what lane i play them in.

that means if you choose ashe

i don't have to choose support if i dont want to i can also choose Jinx

I can also choose to play jinx in the jungle mid or top if i want as well.

also if i don't want jungle and someone picked top already i can also play top .

Basically you're allowed to play any character in any role and its not "trolling" or reportable

These are just examples of course but you didn't seem to understand "doesn't enforce meta means"

hope that clears thing up for you. thats why i made the suggestion if your the type to get stressed out over the outcome of a videogame and having a meta perfect and a military style game is important to you you stay out of the normal ranked or normal queues and just build your own team.

No there isn't . You have no idea what your talking about i play ranked all the time even instalocking is acceptable.

If Your so certain please show me the part of the RIOT League of legends website that explains these rules. And tells you who to pick in a lane.

Anyone who plays ranked outside of bronze knows insta-locking and playing off meta will get you in trouble. As for the set of rules that governs it here you go. http://gameinfo.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/game-info/get-started/summoners-code/ . Playing off-meta violates rules 1 & 4 and riot will take action against you if you do it and piss off enough teammates. And as for riot "not enforcing the meta" anyone who has played for more then a week knows that is a crock a shit. That may be their official stance but they balance around the meta EVERY SINGLE PATCH so if anything non meta becomes popular it gets smacked down.

2 That is your** interpretation** of what it means . That does not make it FACT.

#1 gives suggestion but does not give any specific rules.

Remember, that by taking on a role you don't normally play, you'll learn more about unfamiliar champions and increase your own skill level.

it even suggests that trying new things in ranked is ok .......I could buy a new champ and play it in a different role than i normally play interesting.

#4 is about communication and not being a verbally abusive jerk. that does not have anything to do with champ select.

**Show me ANY thread or part of the website where riot specifically says that instalocking is or picking jana jungle is illegal or anything else related to team comp or role picks. **

I pick champ based on who i have FUN with . this is a video game remember.

Reading your post i can assume that your probably like the other poster one of the people that i have to report for verbal abuse becase you get upset over the out come of a video game if i was to lazy to turn off all chat.

It's not an interpretation balancing around a meta is enforcing a meta.
There has been official riot posts about it. If you spent any real time on the forums a few months ago when the new chat ban system first got put in place, there was a huge stink because i player got chat banned while never actually talking in chat. The chat ban was because he was playing off meta. Lyte stopped by and said yes the ban is justified because playing off meta is equivalent to being a dick which violates the aforementioned rules in the summoners code. Statement from Lyte is more than enough to prove this point.
I highly doubt you have been playing for longer seeing as I've been playing sense season 1 and can break out the summoner icons and skins to prove it. The fact that your posting on the forums on a level 7 alt also suggests that you in fact are not a higher rank and or you got that account perma-banned otherwise a logical person would have logged it in to lend credibility to their argument.

Go ahead try to pick AP YI in ranked. See how long it takes before you get banned for not working with the team simply because your playing off meta.
Resorting to slandering when you have absolutely no experience to back it up really helps your argument and credibility. Especially when doing it from a level 7 account.

2 I believe that revolved around intentional trolling which is bannable and not what i am talking about and if all you can pull out of your hat is one thread than that doesn't really help your case since you have been playing since season 1 as you say you should have seen more that ....

Really you need to learn to relax and remember this is just a video game.

Sometimes you win sometimes you lose it does not really matter in the grand scheme of things its just for fun even ranked.

If riot gave out the sames stats and prizes for normal i wouldn't even bother with it but Victorious skins are rare and look cool so that's t he only reason i bother .

You know why i never have never even gotten a warning ?

becase I'm actually good with whoever i play in whatever lane i play them in and i follow one simple rule that many here have forgotten

If it exists at all since you have been here sooo long you should be able to find that easily right ?
