Charioteer Pantheon

Just an idea, if you all hate it, then oh well. But what if they made Pantheon after his rework ride a chariot? In terms of his character its a way to scale up his power while not giving him God powers. It also makes him closer to Achilles and Ares who I always thought seemed to be what Riot wanted him to be more like, it still in my opinion though would make him look far more unique and interesting while maintaining the whole 'Classical Greek Warrior' aesthetic.

From a gameplay perspective, we all know he will have pretty drastic changes to his abilities when it comes, so I would say like the Swain rework, what we would want is for Pantheons core gameplay and how you play him to still remain similar. I would say that personally what makes Pantheon who he is, is him being a tremendous bully through a combination of good poke and reliable engage. And then the ability to snowball your lane power through good roaming, well riding a Chariot will obviously mean everything but his q has to change pretty drastically, but I see no reason why he wouldn't keep those three strengths and thus keep his core gameplay while generally having a more fresh and fair kit. That said, exact abilities I am not sure about, though obviously he will have the ability to just run through people and hurt them/knock them aside in classic Chariot fashion.

I think a Chariot riding Champion is something Riot should definitely implement into the game. Specifically on Pantheon, I'm not too sure, or on Atreus' version of Pantheon at least, I'll get back to this.

I think majority of Panth players want Pantheon to have a dagger added to his arsenal post rework, which would push him slightly into a "in your face"/skirmisher player style, opposed to the Chariot which more knocking people down in continuous laps and poking from range.

From what I gathered you'd have Pantheon in the Chariot 24/7 but if Riot were to give him one, it's possible it would come as a replacement to his ult. As currently Grand Skyfall is his main roam ability, they'd just swap the 2. Personally I'm not too sure if Pantheon should or will keep his current ult, even though it is so iconic to him, looks @ Urgot. This could allow for both versions of Panth in one kit, although that would be a big leap from his current game play difficulty .

Back to this, what if there were multiple versions of Pantheon in the game? The lore hints at the fact that the Aspect of War, 'Pantheon' can possess multiple vessels at once, perhaps at some point in the future these multiple versions of Pantheon come to Runeterra, each with their own history and fighting style from various planets, similar to Marvel's Spider Verse for example.

I don't know how this would work in game, would it be no different from just having a new champion that uses a Chariot and is 'technically' also Pantheon, or perhaps in Champ select after locking in Pantheon, you have to choose which version to play as and the enemy team only sees which version you chose once you're in game. I was considering making a post on this later.

i think i have ideas for new powers for Pantheon should he get a chariot

passive: Momentum. for each second not in combat (after 5 s) he starts gaining movement speed and the faster he goes the stronger his W is. the movement speed is lost if he is standing still more than 3 s.

Q: Javelin Toss. Pantheon throws a spear at great distance slowing them down for a couple seconds or stunning them if they are below 50% hp W: Trample. Pantheon rushes head first into the first champion and does damage based on how fast he was going. E: Hunker Down. Pantheon hunkers down in his chariot and gains increased armor and magic resist but loses the bonuses should he attack. Ult: Winged Chariot. Pantheon's Chariot becomes a Winged Chariot and granting extreme movement speed and raining down arrows upon attacking (similar to Quinn ult) or it works like his ult now just doing more damage and adding extra effects (whether it is stun or slow or fear i can't decide)

Alright I’m gonna tackle this from a few points.

Charioteer hero, that’s actually pretty cool. I personally wouldn’t want it for Pantheon, but that’s in part because I think the period where the phalanx dominated Greek warfare was, well thoroughly more interesting. And even in the war epics of the pre-Bronze Age collapse Mycenaean period the heroes had a tendency to get off their chariots when the fighting started in earnest.

I don’t think charioteer works very well with Targon though. You know what a society needs to form a strong cavalry force? Open plains and flatlands to make use of the horses. Targon’s just a giant mountain. Not really good cavalry territory there.

Mind you, I don’t particularly think Riot would care about that. Since, you know, Bilgewater somehow has the capacity to fit the small island and waterways needed to support the pirate aesthetic, while for some reason also having the vast open plains and land based cattle movement needed to support the cowboy aesthetic as well. So it’s not like we should expect this sort of consistency.

That and you know. Spartan hoplites are already cooler. Why mess with perfection?

We need more champions that get increased damage from movement speed because...?
