Just thought that it might be time to point my Love for LoL out.

To be honest, League has the greatest Universe i´ve ever seen (or more fitting read) in Gaming for me. Its really easy to let yourself fall into each Champions Lore, the Storys, The Relations. I personally also almost over-enjoy triggering Ingame Interactions, could be why i love playing .

This alone will keep me a loyal League Fan and LoL as my favorite Game and Riot as favorite Company no matter how difficult actually playing the Game is.

Some people will continue to be butthurt about things that don’t matter. Most people will notice the focus Riot is placing upon New lore releases. The lore has never received the treatment it does now.

Everybody has their own opinion as to what "real issues" are, especially Riot's take on "real issues" has next to nothing in common with a general consensus on LoL's social media, thus either everything stays or everything goes out.

Nah, engagement with the lore has been slowly falling for years. All people get is hype over a new video that quickly dies off as those people aren't really devoted to the story. Riot regularly abuses people who really dig deep into the lore.

Little threads here and there may get 10 or 20 upvotes, but what really got people to engage with the lore was when Riot chose to delete Swain and Varus and replace them with other characters and players rightfully pointed out that this was a giant load of bullshit.

What we get now is a helluva lot better than what we used to get. If participation is lower, it’s because of the retcon not Swain and Varus.

I really love it when I read such a positive and cheering threads Yeah , despite hating how they changed Varus lore , the new one is still great and touching , I just didn't like the fact that his father role who seeks for revenge is gone , but , I'm ok with it now

hey question for the narrative team

how come tahm doesn't get more narrative presence? for how vast and interesting his interactions with others and his long and storied history, how come he isn't incorporated more? he's a great narrative device and as a demon is just ripe for appearances in the lore. just wondering why we haven't gotten any content for him besides his teaser trailer in over two years.

I feel like up to now they were trying to establish most regions lore and a baseline lore for the various champions. At this point though, most of the world lore is fairly set up, so I would expect to start seeing more lore interactions in the next year compared to previously. Some of the comments I've seen from Rioters about the Noxian update indicate they want to release smaller batches of lore at a higher frequency compared to last year, so hopefully some interesting stuff is in the works.

Short, realistic answer? Writer/editor bandwidth.

Before I got here (January 2017) there wasn't any kind of storytelling plan beyond "a bio and a color story for every new champion, and a short story whenever we can fit it in".

Now we've got more Rioters in Narrative, and we're looking ahead to more ways we can get interaction with champions, as well as characters in the lore who aren't champions. The short story 'The Principles of Strength' is a good example - Swain and Darius (and "the Faceless"...?!) plus a few more, in an illustration of how Noxus works, politically, through actual storytelling instead of info-dump.

We're going to keep leveling up, and linking more and more of our champions to the "now" in Runeterra.

If there's a reason to tell a story with Tahm Kench, we will absolutely do so. :-)

A question, if I may, since you're qualified for it.

It seems like it's become the norm recently that champions (and their comrades) get a bunch of lore when they get reworked. I'm wondering if this would extend as well to someone like Aatrox, who's getting a gameplay update but not an entire thematic overhaul. Is there anything planned for him on the lore front?

Recently we've had quite a bit of lore for the Darkin, with Kayn/Rhaast, Varus, and some other blurbs of their race mentioned here and there. In the end, we know a decent amount about Varus, Rhaast, why they were here, what their motivations are, etc, but Aatrox (muh main boi) is still lagging behind the group without any kind of real fleshing out.

I totally understand if you're unable to talk about anything that may or may not be in the works, so this was mainly a question about if it's possible/on the table rather than if it's happening.

Varus' lore talks about Aatrox's defeat as a major part of the ending of the darkin war, which suggests (to me anyway) that we're going to see more Aatrox lore moving forward. ATM he's just this mysterious warrior dude who shows up sometimes throughout history to turn battles in favor of a side that's losing horribly. But the darkin are now an extraruneterrestrial race, and the idea that Aatrox was their leader of sorts is very intriguing. We'll see soon, I suppose.

I think something that should be noted (unless Aatrox's lore will be completely changed as well) is that if Aatrox has successfully possessed a host body for thousands of years then why hasn't he managed to find and free his kin? I know it may not be such an easy task for the Darkins themselves, but Varus seems to be making more progress than Aatrox (who's been around for quite a while). Even Rhaast has made it clear that if he could possess Kayn, one of the first things he would do is find his siblings and free them so that they could terrorize and exterminate the world together.

He suffered this implied huge defeat so I'm pretty sure setting up the world before releasing them would be a better plan, since the others seem impatient.

I think Rhaast just wants to show he's a better leader than Aatrox was implied to be.

A great question... although, since it relates to the future, I have to be a little more vague...

We currently have three darkin champions, and there's a lot of implied lore in there. For me, personally, I'd like to see some of the implied stuff fleshed out, and help to build a more solid idea of what the darkin are, what they want, and where that might lead them and the peoples of Runeterra.

Anywhere there is a hook or something that seems incomplete/inconsistent, there's an opportunity for a story or two! ;-)

Hey Scathe, if I could offer something, I think what Swain lacks that might be necessary is any kind of relationship with another champ. For example, Eve is a very similar character, but she directly affected Vayne in the new lore and could be considered her nemesis. Tahm doesn't really have that, a character who he has affected that makes him a real villain in someone's story. Maybe even if his lore isn't really added onto, maybe he could be expanded on in another character's lore, even a character whose lore is a bit outdated and could use an update.

League isn’t perfect (name one game that is though) but holy crap do they know how to make interesting characters. And a lot of they’re playstyles also fit their themes so well. You really feel like a towering monster as Sion, or hunting prey as Warwick. And I’m always excited to see more lore for everyone. Even for champs I don’t like, I gotta admit they have great stories.
