[Edit] Stone Cold wins! Lovely fluffy Willump saves the day. Awww. #2018 Lore Tournament: Day 6 Welcome to day 6 of the 2018 Lore Tournament!

Holy petricite! Yesterday's matchup was close! I mean, I love all the stories for what they bring, but those two were remarkably well matched. Is someone scripting this like Worlds? ;) Kidding!

Yesterday's stories were pretty creepy, but today we have tales of courage and bravery! Whether the courage of a young boy, or a grizzled man - whether facing off against mysterious magic or screeching spirits - both have memories of a loved one that keeps them strong. And to me, they are both, in their own ways, precious cinnamon buns who must be protected (yeah, even Lucian).

One of the verses mentioned this village. ##vs https://i.imgur.com/vjfgxhM.jpg[/img] Hunter of Shadows by Anthony Reynolds Lenné A young woman in an overrun inn tries ineffectually to fire a weapon. Lucian recalls how he had once similarly struggled.

Both stories deal with memories of a loved one, and how they are driven forwards by them (I didn't plan this - it's just a happy accident) but the nature of those memories are different. Which of them speaks to you more deeply - which makes you feel in the middle of your chest for our heroes. It's tragic (like the situations of our lovely Champs) that both can't 'win' but in my view, they both succeed at making me understand what drives these people a little more. So, that's neat. Do you think that's neat? :)

Gonna have to go with Stone Cold, Lucian's story was dope but it didn't really progress his character and felt like a candid snapshot of him

There is something just SO relatable about Lucian that I just can't put my finger on. Maybe it's just that I grew up on Batman/Punisher comics, but whenever I read Lucian, I always unintentionally insert myself into his shoes. Hunter of Shadows is just written too damn well; take my vote.

I loved Stone Cold. It captures the feeling of reading something a little kid wrote so well. Just look at how much of the prose has sentences ending in exclamation marks! It's so cute. Also I didn't really like that Lucian story... it didn't do much for me.

Im still mad that Door lost, but at least this time the one I voted for wasn't already pretty much lost XD

I'm casting my vote for the story that was perfectly structured and beautifully detailed and made me feel things I didn't expect to feel... but like... the winner is against Icathia? Sadism much?
