It's really not that big of a problem. They'll get to it when they get to it.

I hope for Preseason 7 Riot just does a massive visual update to the game, updating all the old item icons, old splash arts (and chinese replaced ones), and old ability icons. Also release the new client during that time. It would just make the game feel so much better.
This is the bigger item icon priority in my mind.
I like them they're nostalgic, iconic, and colorful I don't need fancy graphics when I have those ^
tbh they could probably update every icon in the game in like a week.

I think I read somewhere that they originally did have a guy who was updating items, but when they were updated they didn't see any real growth in the game or making people like the items any more or less, so it was dropped for more profitable things.
