So I was reading about the Key around Zoe's neck, and learned that it was FiddleSticks. If you look at the previous splash art of Fidd, then you can see that he had a key around his neck but it is not in the updated splash.
Was there ever a story released about how Zoe got that key/what the key belongs to???
The key (belonging to Fiddlesticks), was something from the old pre-Retcon lore, where Summoners were a thing. The key around Fiddlesticks' neck was that of a Zaunite Summoner, named Istvaan, who performed some perverse ritual that caused him to either A. Summon Fiddlesticks, or B. Become Fiddlesticks.
The Key specifically unlocked the door to Istvaan's summoning tower, which he spent quite a lot of time in seclusion inside.
How Zoe got it, I can only imagine through capricious, dimension altering "I don't care about retcon" magics, since she's a trickster and all that.
Obviously Fiddlesticks was the harbinger and now Zoe is here with the message. Unfortunately "Hello kind Sir/Madam, someone will show up here with an important message in the future." translates to ripped apart by crows in Fiddlesticks' native tongue.
I'll mark it down as a trick from the aspect of being a dick twilight.
Zoe can travel to pre-retcon league and steal things.
She stole it because it belongs to Ezreal's heart.
I honestly think they are unrelated.
