Quinn and Riven is certainly one that I think has interesting mileage. Two of the more down to earth and open-minded representatives of their city-states who were both driven by dreams of greatness and prefer a simple life to the excesses of their place of origin.

I think Alistar and XinZhao would have quite a lot to talk about as survivors of the Fleshing in Noxus. I don't exactly think it's in his nature, but I can see Xin making a quiet suggestion for a modest Demacian contribution to Alistar's charity work and efforts to bring Noxian offences to light and help those who have lived through them.

While their natures would prevent them from being true friends, I think Leblanc and Lissandra would find that their have a great deal in common and appreciate an opportunity to spend time in the company the rare individual who truly understands what it means to bury your true face behind layer after layer of deception.

Draven and Jax strike me as a pair who, clashing egos aside, would recognise the other as a being a generally cool and laid back guy.

Rengar and Warwick : Hunting bros.

Anivia and Soraka are both quasi-immortal beings with a strong spiritual connection to Runeterra, a desire for peace and protective nature that sees them lend their aid to the mortals around them. I think they'd hit it off very quickly and be glad for someone who can appreciate the perspective that comes with age.

First of all, item 3070 in remembrance of the League of Legends, which provided a place for these kinds of meetings to happen.

Olaf I randomly threw a scene of Vi and Olaf getting drunk and playing some kind of Freljordian/Winter's Claw "punch each other between drinks" game into the new Factions sign-up page. (I imagine that if someone asked Olaf what that game was called among the tribes of the Winter's Claw, he'd answer, "We call it 'drinking'!") I'm not sure if they'd be best friends forever, but somehow, I can see them having a grand old time resulting in property damage and severe chastisement from Caitlyn.

Vi and Olaf would be a great duo! I personally think it's less cool if the meeting is shoehorned, á la IoW, but I could see them having a great time if they met more organically!

To avoid a prolonged (and arguably rather pointless) debate about the Great Retcon in this thread of merriment and international camaraderie, I will simply say that neither an IOW nor non-IOW meeting would be doomed to awkwardness. They're different contexts that add different elements. A good author, I think, can take advantage of whichever context he or she chooses. (It is true, but I think irrelevantly true, that one can also produce an awkward, "shoehorned" meeting with or without the IOW.) Some people prefer the political/diplomatic tones the IOW brings; others might prefer the "unexplored world" rawness of New Runeterra. But I think it'd be a fun meeting in either context. There are even plenty of stories that would work either way, albeit with different tones.

For instance, I could see Vi hanging out at a Piltovian research station in the desolate outer reaches of the Freljord when Noxians/Zaunites show up hunting down the same thing the Pilts are researching. The Winter's Claw gets into the mix, Vi and Olaf punch out some bad guys, and find themselves fast friends. The same basic scene works fine in either universe, but the choices of "seasonings" would vary. The "New Runeterra" is nice in that you can play it up as a genuine first meeting, and you can make it a simpler story without much of an international context to get in the way. The "Old Runeterra" is nice in that you get to explore a more developed Piltover-Freljord history, and you can spend less time on "gasp! who are these strange people with strange clothes?" novelty. A good author should be able to write good material either way.

Really, though, while I vocally opposed the Great Retcon, right now my attitude is "people who want to write IOW lore, go write good IOW lore. People who want to write New Runeterra lore, go write good New Runeterra lore."

I could honestly see Darius , Sejuani , and Shyvana becoming great friends if they ever met in a social setting. They all tend to have the same philosophies about life, they all love to fight, and they would all respect each others' strength.

Shyvana and Nidalee would probably get along fairly well, and spend much time pondering their dual natures.

Kalista and Lucian would have a very vitriolic relationship but would understand each other better than they realize and could eventually become friends. Or enemies.

It's been teased by Jaredan that and Ekko have the potential to be very good friends.

Thus the 'in a social setting' part. I mean, old lore, Garen and Katarina are perfectly friendly despite being on opposing sides as long as they weren't on the battlefield. Heck, Garen saved Kat's life from one of his own men once.

Darius is generally considered to be one of the sanest, most level-headed people in Noxus. He's not purging the nobility entirely, he's just getting rid of 'political generals' and other figureheads he sees as damaging Noxus. He's not a nice guy, but I'd reckon Shyvana is more violent than Darius.

If you ask me Viktor is at least on par with Heimer, if he hasn't surpassed him already. I'm not even sure where Zilean fits in with the two of them since he's more of a mage than a scientist (though an undeniably brilliant one).

Heim has a nuro linked piece of gear that doesn't drive him insane, since Viktor's main claim to fame is his ability to directly connetc nerve to machine, i submit that since Heim can do this as well without all the side effects Vik's cause he is clearly the better scientist,

As for Zilean i always got the feeling he was using sufficiently advanced technology, or more simply his science is so far ahead of anyone else's it can't be distinguished from magic,

Insanity? Side effects? Unless you have a source of some kind, that sounds an awful lot like headcanon to me. Even if Heimer does have a similar brain-machine interface he uses it to build relatively simple little devices whereas Viktor's application of the technology is infinitely more ambitious and far-reaching.

In Zilean's case it probably is a case of magic and tech being indistinguishable, though his lore does use phrases like "temporal magic" and "enchantments" and suchlike.

It's right there in his lore section, the attempts to suppress his emotions drove him nuts stripping away all but the worst of his emotions, it's why he acts like a hypocrite he's lost his ability to recognize his own actions as flawed,

Again, you're projecting your own moral judgment on the lore, without any hard evidence. His only (singular) "crime" that I know of is the theft of Jayce's crystal, which can easily fall under the ends justifying the means. What else has he done to make him a "flat out villain"? Please elaborate, in detail if you don't mind.

Incidentally, the crime he committed is hardly analogous to the one of which he was the victim. Jayce coincidentally being assigned to study a nifty power source and then having it stolen is just not the same as Viktor pouring his heart and soul into the creation of sentient life only to have that stolen from him, by any stretch of the imagination.

Alright, now you're just making shit up. Trying to take over the world? Maybe indirectly, if that's how you want to view the Glorious Evolution. But again, that's your own opinion. But using the acolytes as meat shields? How can you possibly infer that from the single sentence in which they're mentioned? In fact that's flat out impossible since Jayce eliminates them before he even confronts Viktor, who doesn't make any attempt to escape whatsoever.

It's true that what he did to Jayce was fairly immoral (I'm not trying to argue that Viktor is a paragon), but to say that that single action automatically makes him completely evil/a "flat out villain" is absurd.

Have you read the lore of Shen?

"As the Eye of Twilight, Shen must make decisions which would buckle the wills of ordinary men, removing all emotion from the equation."

Its very similar to Viktor in that matter.. but it doesnt mean that Shen is Evil. Both of them are Neutral, not villains.

Shen's is born of raw discipline and renders him Lawful Neutral, Viktor's is born of his tampering with his own brain and renders him some flavor of evil, likely neutral with strong chaotic leanings since he no longer has any personal code beyond achieve his own objective,
