The reason why it was so memorable is because it played against his established character. He lived and breathed the art of war, his very existence was encompassed by the battlefield. But one sentence, his dream of being a baker, a hope and desire so humble, remained in his thoughts. It stood out, and resonated with many people. Pantheon, like many of us, gave up a dream to do what he had been told was right.

He does not fight for glory or the love of spilling blood, Pantheon became the Artisan of War because he was the best. He took on the mantle of that responsibility proudly, even if it meant setting aside his dream.

He was a man of integrity who put his people before himself, even if it hurt. Now he's dead while a demigod pulls his strings.

I agree 100% with your post. It is little things like the baker line that end up giving champions a surprising amount of depth and enable we the players to identify with the champions.

It's like Nautilus 's joke imo.... non-canonical....

His backstory is essentially him being dragged to the bottom of the ocean and being to heavy to float/swim...

so he just wandered on the seafloor for YEARS untill emerging at bilgewater.

So yeah seeing him float around like hes in water is the exact opposite of what you'd expect lol.

Pantheon possessed people before, right? One of them has to have been a baker, forever denied his desires and forced into a valhalla not of his sort, living on in Pantheon for the purpose … you know, I'm not sure what a demigod would want with a Baker's soul, character growth potential I guess.

You know, I was thinking the EXACT same thing when reading the new 'lore' (and im not even sure if thats the proper word for it).

It seems like they are intentionally re-writing everything and re-doing champs just because they cant think of anything more useful to do.

she wanted peace with the solari in her original lore as well, but after years of horrible treatment by the solari and being sentenced to death she all but completely gave up hope for peace. all they had to do was amend her lore, and flesh out her character/motivations to reveal that she wasn't completely lost. that leona who was the only solari who would listen and was not a bloodthirsty warrior zealot could potentially bring her back "into the light" so to speak. now it's all lame. leona is a zealot like all the others she just got sun powers/ memories for no real reason(before it was because of her exceptional compassion) that plot convenienced her into wanting to find diana. and for some reason diana didn't get any of these "we must band together memories".... the writing for this lore is just plain bad and shows that whoever wrote it doesn't give a shit about the characters. leo and diana got off better than panth though who literally got his character removed from the game.

A) New Diana actually wants peace, and didn't kill more than just the Elders of the Solari. And Diana did get these "Band together memories" because she went back to the Solari temple to try to reason with them. Diana doesn't know Leona has these same memories because she got them chasing Diana up the mountain. We know Leona and Diana has both because of Readers perspective, but Diana doesn't.

B) At the very end of Leona's back story, it implies that her harsh feelings towards Diana are gone since she knows the only other person who knows the knowledge that was Gifted to her, is Diana.

And her Zealot-ness is only towards those who are dangerous, like those who were raiding the village or Diana, when she murdered all the Elders. After she was embodied by the aspect of the Sun, we do not know how she'll behave with a non-violent character.

C) Pre-new-lore Pantheon was "YOU'RE HAVING WAR WITHOUT US? NOT WITHOUT US, YOU AREN'T". New Pantheon lore is way more substantial and can actually lead to new interesting story development, like maybe Atreus's personality trying to resurface.

the only difference for diana with regards to who she has kill is all relative to time past. and ok i just read it again and i'm probably wrong about the memories. i thought it was saying leona had a vision of the coming invasion and that's why she needed to talk to diana, but that is most likely not correct.

people who are zealots, by defintion does not make exceptions regardless. the first time in her life she was not a zealot was the "batkid" thing.

i was never into panth and so i don't know much about his old lore. the problem i have is that they killed off his character(maybe) which pisses me off for the sake of people who liked panth. especially because, like the changes to diana and leona it was completely unnecessary to tell the story. all 3 of theses characters could have retained their personalities and kept the story intact. it probably would have been a much better story as well since the story they wrote was pretty bad IMO
