The Void

Hey RIOT!

I've got a bunch of questions relating to The Void that I was hoping you'd be able to answer for me!

  • Who was Kassadin's daughter that got sent into The Void?
  • What was Malzahar like before he was exposed to The Void?
  • What are other living beings within The Void like? Are they more intelligent like Cho'Gath and Vel'Koz? Are they more primitive like Kog'Maw? Are they more like wild animals like Rek'Sai? Or are they simply more adaptive like Kha'Zix?
  • What are the Voidlings (summoned by Malzahar) and the Voidspawns (summoned from the Zz'Rot Portal) like when within The Void? Where would they rank in terms of the food chain?
  • Who/what is Kog'Maw referring to in his taunt "Terror coming... daddy coming!"
  • What was Baron Nashor's place when within The Void?
  • What kind of hierarchy does The Void abide by, if by one at all? Who/what sits at the top of said hierarchy?
  • How did Viktor manage to come into contact with the Voidborn champions and get forced into the Glorious Revolution?

The Void has long been my favorite place in all of Runeterra--well, even though it's not technically part of Runeterra--and the champions that come from there always peak my interest. Creatures like them are the ones I find the most fascinating! So I hope you can help me learn more about them!

About the viktor question: Keep in mind thats an alternate reality, creator viktor might be even more powerful than regular viktor(or the original void creatures could be less powerful). I think it was implied though that battlecast skarner alpha was actually the one who captured the specimen for viktor.

I agree that the Void is the best faction. I especially like Vel'Koz, both character and kit.

I hope they do something like this Shadow Isle event to the Void.

I would like to think kog maw is still a "baby" void born which is why he kinda looks like a larva and doesnt have the traditional purple colour and in most cases a grown adult wouldnt call their father "daddy"

upvote for that kassadin daughter question

I find it interesting how the Void champions seem to have changed genre from cosmic horror to standard sci-fi aliens over time. Cho'gath's lore reads like something out of H.P Lovecraft, he's unfathomably terrifying and powerful and an existential threat to the entire planet. Malzahar's lore centers on the idea that the Void creatures ruled the world once and will inevitably come again and devour the inhabitants. Whereas Kha, Rek'sai and Vel'koz are just alien monsters. Fairly powerful and dangerous en masse, but not on the same scale. I suppose it's because there's only so many homages to Cthulhu you can make before it gets stale, but sci-fi has a wide stable of different alien beings.

+1 we all want the lore updates, and it will take time, but it is fun to question the mysteries <3

How does one observe what cannot be seen?

We may not have much information on The Void, but the knowledge that has been collected points to it as a wholly alien realm whose existence alone is enough to drive most mortals mad. This presents the very confounding conundrum of how to present The Void without making it just a dimension of purple bugs or so mind-bendingly horrifying it causes brains to slip out through noses.

i feel like the void is a more primitive place and more based on the food chain to relate to the heirarchy but i think theyre sort of gradually evolving and theres probs someone in there going on a conquer all of the void spree but that seems impossible since the void seems more like a spacey infinite hellish "land". or void. :P

Well with the Baron Nashor I would imagine he ranks very high in the void, perhaps even as the "king". Here is my reasoning, 1) His very appearance on the Rift caused massive destruction, and the essence of his power mutated a harmless little scuttle crab into a very harmful Rift Herald. 2) Unlike any other void creature, he cannot be taken down easily like the void champs, and in the chaos that is the Void, power is all that matters.

I know the first question is RekSai
