What if it was set in the early PROJECT Universe. Or a unique universe altogether?
The name isn't much of a connection - because all the games Riot is producing are code-named as Project [Letter]
I think that it will be in a League of Legends multiverse, it just won't be acknowledged outside of possible subtle hints here and there. I'm positive they will never put a multiverse alternate champ from League into the Project A lore.
I'm pretty sure they've already stated that it takes place on a near-future Earth. It seems like it'll have its own lore divorced from the League of Legends multiverse, although maybe some popular skin lines from League will make an appearance in that game.

I think it's unrelated. Of course, there could be crossovers with interdimensional travel and such, but with that you can allow almost any connection.
It seems to be centered around this resource they have shown, let's simply call it "fuel". It's needed for abilities, and you need to buy it. It also was present on the map they've revealed at L10, so I guess the games lore will be based on that? (I'm saying lore, not story here because it's unclear if it will even have a single player campaign)
