Lore Theory: Sejuani killed her mother to gain control of the Winter's Claw.

Hello everyone. Today I'd like to talk about Sejuani, and her rise to power. With the release of her newest Splashes, she's gotten a lot of presence on boards recently, and that has drawn a lot of rioters to drop some tidbits of information about her.

According to Gatekeeper Galio, Sejuani has committed matricide. This was a big shock, as none of Sejuani's current lore gave any indication of such. While many of Galio's sentences are jokes, this (and a couple others) seem to be right on the nose. So it got me thinking: Why would she kill her mother?

Now we move onto the new information. In a certain post on boards, a user asked Riot if Traditional Sejuani represented Sejuani's younger days. The Rioter, Reav3 confirmed it was indeed young Sejuani, and that it symbolized the moment she accepted the helm to become leader of her tribe. This was all very fine and well, but then Riot WAAARGHbobo told us that the helm was broken by Sejuani herself, when she killed the previous wearer. This means that Sejuani had killed the previous leader of the Winter's Claw to gain power. She was not given the position after fighting different members of the clan, she took it by killing the leader.

Now this raises an interesting idea. If the Helm was the symbol of leadership to the Winter's Claw, and Sejuani killed the previous leader of the Winter's Claw, then maybe, just maybe, that leader was her own mother. Now let me go into deeper theory territory to explain why.

In Sejuani's current lore, the previous leader of the Winter's Claw was content to watch their people starve and die of exposure. (Note that the lore does not explicitly mention a leader, but due to WAAARGHbobo's comment, there had to have been a previous leader.) Sejuani herself was the only survivor of ten children. If her mother was this careless leader, it would make sense that Sejuani would harbor resentment, as she had let her own children die, and probably didn't care much about Sejuani. Sejuani knew she had to stop this, but she could not wait for nature to take its course, she had to gain control of the Winter's Claw to save them from their lazy leader. And so she did, by killing them, her own mother.
