I'm kind of disappointed at the community's reaction to the Star guardian skins

I'm definitely going to get downvoted for this, and quite frankly, I still think it needs to be said. This shitstorm kicks up every time a popular champion gets a skin. People were seriously irritated during the vs event that yasuo and riven got skins. They were angry that jhin got a blood Moon skin, they were angry any time ahri gets a skin. Or Annie or teemo or ryze, even though the latter three are among the oldest of champions.

I raise you this, currently, we have a guarantee that the majority of skinless champions are getting a skin. Rather than taking that news happily, people instead get even more impatient. It's as if because riot said they would release a skin that year, it must be for those champions before all others. Every time I see a champion get a skin that isn't on the whine list, I feel sad that all of those champions mains are going to have their excitement dampened because the community is determined to make them feel like shit for buying them. I love yorick a lot, and while I haven't played him for very long, I'd like a skin for him to. I took over look at the Star guardian theme and was like, "I'm glad that yorick wasn't part of this.". But i still adore all of those new releases. It wasn't a good theme for him, but I know there are themes that fit him better, like battlecast or pool party. Heck I'd wait all year if Santa yorick was on the list this year.

If you believe that skins are something to be cherished, why do you insist on tearing everyone else down when they get it. Surely you want people to be happy for you when you finally get your skin? Then why so hostile towards the champions who get skins. They're popular for a reason. If non popular champs didn't have such a bad reputation for salt or hate on boards, maybe people would want to be more vocal for a skin who didn't play the champion. Honestly, I feel like Swain, yorick and Cass players are the equivalent of vayne, yasuo, and Lee sin players on boards. You're just incredibly toxic when things don't go your way.

But you don't have to be, if riot guaranteed a skin, why the hate? You're getting what you want, why impugn on other people's happiness?

Make it clearer for me because I don't understand that if you know a skin is coming within the next 9 months, why there's so much hate when other skins are released in the mean time?

it's not an issue of liking Ahri it's the issue of pandering mainly to Ahri fans while other fans have been waiting years for skins for champions that never get skins.

like every time an Ahri skin gets revealed it feels like a slap in the face like Riot doesn't care about most of their fanbase they only care about the ones that follow the champs they made super popular.

it's like this a few years ago Zac and Khazix were sitting in a position where they were popular but had been sitting on their single skins they got from launch for so very long. meanwhile Ahri was getting like 1 every year since those 2 came out.

it got to the point that when Zac finally got a Pool Party Skin fans were super happy. the skin didn't even add much to him as a skin it was basically was a chroma pack that gave him pants and a cool new recall. but the fact they gave him a skin in general was enough to make people happy

so to see that we are still doing this crap where champs that desperately need skins are still sitting on the back burner while Ahri gets one every year regardless of if that skin could fit like many other champions it just feels so crappy.

Riot Guarantees a lot of stuff and than either takes forever with it, flat out cancels it, or does something else that makes these things not a obtainable or usable so after years of broken promises the fan base is a bit quick to feel like they are being ignored or betrayed

(examples of broken promises - Magma chamber, Bilgewater aram, being able to keep and switch out the announcer after events, many skins, & fixing Dominion.) the list goes on these guys have let us down many times now

See this is my pain problem with all the hate on the boards (or anywhere really).

It's fine to be disappointed, but don't tear down the mains of the popular champs for daring to get these skins because they must be "sheeple, rednecks, weebs drowning in their drool, etc. that only exist to feed Riot's greed."

That just isn't cool.

My beef is that Arcade Ezreal/Ahri/Miss Fortune already play on the super poppy/Japanese/video game feel thematic, and then they all immediately get Star Guardian skins which overlap that thematic a lot, imo. I don't mind Ezreal/Ahri/MF getting new skins, so long as they make some degree of sense and don't bump edges with skin lines they already are a part of. That's my biggest issue with them. There were actually thematic champions, like Taric, who were passed over for this line so they could be a part of it. Hell, Sivir or even Diana could have fit in this line a lot better too, because even they have elements that could work in a magical girl thematic, have the whole tsundere/tough girl attitude, and would be unique skin fantasies for them.

I don't think it's fair to state that people who have been waiting for years for a skin for their favorite champion(s) are impatient. Their disappointment and resent is justified. No one likes having to wait in line for a meal only to have someone who was standing in front of them get back in line for a second serving and then cut in front of them....like 3 times over before they finally get to eat.

While you have a point in criticizing people for impugning others' happiness, "skin-whiners" do have at least one legitimate point going for them, and that is the Skin Team's resources. Riot does have a finite amount of time and money to spend on developing skins, so in fact, time spent on "popular champion" skins is time not spent on "unpopular champion" skins.

I think the argument is rooted in some sense of fairness. The idea is that skins should, in a perfectly fair world, distributed evenly. It makes sense that older champions have more skins, that is not a really legitimate source of complaints so long as their frequency of new skins goes down proportionally with the release of new champions, and, for the most part, it has. It also makes sense if popular champions are favored to a degree, as it means more business, and more benignly, more passionate Riot artists, but ultimately, that sense of fairness is jeopardized when older champions are not served.

Now, to actually determine if those so-called problem champions are actually problematic, I would need to do some more numbers. A quick look put Lee Sin and Caitlyn in the same category as Ahri (released after 2010, seven or more skins).

Bruh... When you see characters with decent skins and some alright skins and they have more than 5 fucking skins when your main only has 1, and has been released over a year, U KINDA GET SALTY. We dont mean to be rude but its aggravating. Personally to me, I love my main, hes fun, enjoyable. But there is nothing refreshing. I want to play him more, but I just feel like its finally becoming the same old thing. A skin, an Icon, a chroma, a fucking ward related to the character? ANYTHING WOULD SATISFY ME. Even a little Santa hat skin. I DONT CARE. I'm a sol main and I feel this way, other characters have waited for longer. Its just TILTING

Riot has a limited amount of money to design skins. If it is spent making an ahri skin every fucking year then it isn't going towards the champions that actually need some fucking skins. If a champion hasn't got a skin in 6 years, why should ahri get one after 10 months.

No. The problem is they promise us skins for said champions and they turn out to be shitty, hardly worked on skins or a shitty 750rp skin with nothing. Yet Jinx, Teemo, Ahri and more can get another 1350 or 1800rp skin and are part of an amazing skin line. People continue to be annoyed because of the favoritism and the same champions getting the same stuff every year.

That's a pretty stupid argument. "they're going to have their excitement dampered" is completely irrelevant over the fact that the skin will be released anyway for them to purchase.

Granted not everyone fits every theme, but the fact that several champions hadn't had a single skin in years is a reason of concern. While you could argue this is because those champions are less popular, you could also say that Riot, by paying no mind to these champions, is tacitly telling the playerbase they should not focus their attention on those champions.
