just seen the Ekko's Trailer, and my god was i stunned
now with Riot changing the ENTIRE LEAGUE'S LORE, they can make it a movie instead, i would watch the hell of it if it looked as Action paced as the Ekko's Trailer
Making a movie would be near impossible even with Riot's peak earnings. An average animated movie these days cost around 150-200 million dollars, not accounting for a marketing campaign; that amount of money would be immensely risky at this point in time, since characters in League severely lack the depth needed to carry a movie and the lore retcon means they were changed before much of anything was done to them, thus diminishing what little attachment was already there.
An animated series would be much more sensible. An average one costs about 1.5 million per episode, 2.5 if you want to make it look really good. They could use it as a series of short stories, kind of like the original Clone Wars series. Would help people actually familiarize themselves with champions as characters, not as eSports loadouts.
Second, Riot don't actually make any of the recent cinematics, they're outsourcing them to random studios all over the world. Bard's promo was done by Studio Mir, for example.
1 movie? No. Because even if we only give each character 1 minute of screen time it would still be way too long for a film.
1 TV series? It perhaps can pull it off if they approach it like say Hunter x Hunter or One Piece I can sorta see that, but the problem is the budget, resource and time, and the lack of depth of almost all League characters in general really.
I know it's completely irrelevant since everyone understands what you're saying and I hate to be 'that guy' but it's 'standards', not 'standers'.

lol of course i get downvoted. first of all, just because it may take a lot of money, it doesnt mean they have to have the greatest quality to deliver a stunning product, you guys are mixing up animation quality with script quality. You can tell a great story with just stick-figures.
My point still fucking stands. And also this wouldnt be a freaking MAJOR MOTION PICTURE.
You usually can create a movie with an "expected" gain. Borrow money, create the movie and earn more !
Actually, a 2D cartoonish TV Serie would be better. 30 minutes a week. Cartoons like in the Jinx video trailer or the Bard's one. We would all follow this.
If they green light it now, you know you wont see anything about the TV show until the end of next year. Not to mention that we still dont have all the foundations of the new lore built up (currently in works), so anyone who would want to do a story in that world wont have all the information readily available for them when they start the production. I mean I would love a series, dont get me wrong, its just if they do plan on doing it, you will wait even more for it than the current base lore.
I love how @riot uses so many different styles on their cinematics, they usually fit more personally with the champ they include and it keeps things fresh and I never know what to expect. I'd really enjoy a series or movie for sure
