So according to Ekko, Vi comes from Zaun.

I don't know why, but I feel like it took Riot a lot longer to let us know about this than I had hoped.

I mean, it's interesting, but the quotes don't offer much besides "Ekko knew Vi, she used to live in Zaun." :^|

Considering how much we know (or are supposed to know) about Vi already, this still just feels more like a "OMG VI IS FROM ZAUN CONFIRMED" than something that provides anything to her character overall. It'd be much more helpful if we actually knew why Ekko knows Vi, and if they used to be friends, what kind of shit went down.

We know from the teaser video, Seconds, that Ekko is related to Jinx...

because the mural that Ekko went back to save... well if you looked carefully, the mural next to that one pictured Jinx. Highly likely that they were made together/ created by the same artists given their styles. Highly likely that the person in the mural he went back to save being a friend of Ekko, perhaps part of his crew.

So Ekko, Jinx, and Vi were all part of the same Zaunian Gang. Then something happened. Vi became a Pilty, and Jinx went crazy because of reasons.

i dont think they are related really since in his quip to jinx he states "I did have a crush... till you started talking to the gun..." also it was never confirmed that jinx and vi rolled in the same circles. and to be honest i think jinx was always nuts really or at the very least started to become crazy at an early age.

That has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that these quotes hardly bring any substance to champion backgrounds. You're talking about the video that Riot made, which undeniably has a lot more lore than a majority of Shuriman champions do just by watching it alone.

How do you mean 'lore is fcked'? They've written the lore already, but they don't want us to know everything about it. There's hints here and there, in old JoJ entries, and previous champion lore entries. The lore isn't fcked, they're just keeping us on the edge.

Well the JoJ entries are non-canon now. All the old lore is non canon. The institute and summoners are gone. They haven't explained why anyone is fighting in these random battles nor have they given us much info on most champions.

pretty much this. when JoJ was killed the lore went right with it (hence the rewrite of good amount of league champions so they can supposedly "fit" in new places, i.e. sivir and shurima and udyr and freljord. really lore now is nothing but just made up on the fly.

No they aren't. They are just half-assing it as they go along. There wasn't some big story about Ekko and Vi written down when Vi came out. There probably isn't anything more than "Vi is from Zaun. Put it in a spreadsheet so the next time we make a Zaun champ we can connect them together." Eventually, they'll fuck something up and realize they wrote themselves into a corner and they'll have to retcon some more shit.

Ill have notice that Jinx vandalized two pages until her release. Vis and Lucians. Ekko didnt have a page back then, so the closest one to him in appearance is Lucian. They are not retconing things here, they are answering some of them. Awe all just assumed she was Piltover, even thought that may not have been true at all.

yea thats a bit to close lol since vi hasnt been in zaun for a couple of years (iirc i think 3 years). which leads perfectly in why ekko states "Vi you use to be cool" since back then she ran with ekko and his gang, which im thinking is the same group of people she saved before going to piltover.

but its up in the air since JoJ isnt around anymore and most lore things have been buried if not deleted.

If I may say, Rito supposedly confirmed Vi is 17 and Ekko is 16 or 17. Jinx is older and Jinx's name is false (jinx name thing is obvious... or maybe she just jinxes things? :P) But then Ekko is younger than Vi and Jinx so prob 16 and jinx is like 18 - 20... I dont know this may be made up

it was told when VI was released that she was in her late 20s like caitlyn and also told during the ekko q&a that she and ekko are a ways apart in age since he is 15-17 lol :). also its their lore that ekko, vi, and jinx dont use their real names and were given those names by one way or another.

I think that Ekko is around the same ages of Vi and Jinx, but what makes him look younger is perhaps a side effect of the time traveling, that, OR he just skipped a few years- He traveled a few years ahead of his time. :P

Makes sense, Vi is a technological genius (at least to an extent) and it seems like Zaun is full of... intelligent youth.

Judging by those quotes, I'm guessing that Vi used to be a big sister figure (not to mention she wears goggles, which may be a common Zaun trend).

If I were to hazard a guess, Vi and Jinx might have been affiliated with each other. If I recall correctly, Jinx used to sign with an X to annoy Caitlyn or something, and Caitlyn is plagued by some "C" figure. Ekko has no number affiliation, so he was probably part of the successor generation to Vi and Jinx's gang, along with this mysterious "C" (who I bet will be a future champion). Anyway, Jinx and Vi split and went down separate paths due to the even that led to Vi leaving and becoming a vigilante and eventually a cop. Jinx embraced the chaos and became pretty much batshit crazy, while Vi controls herself and lets it out in barely self-controlled moments appropriate for the situation. Ekko may look down on both, one for completely losing control and one trying to control what shouldn't be put on a leash.

No, they said it's confirmed that they both have sisters but they have yet to confirm that they are in fact each others sisters. Most likely an attempt to buy time until they determine whether or not they want to make two separate sister champs or just change lore and make them sisters.

last i remember from her release her lore story told of that she was from zaun not piltover. same with jinx and she is only to cause trouble to vi so she just followed her to piltover.

Straight from Vi's current lore. Directly contradicted by a new champs quote. (Honestly, did I miss something? Did they claim in some obscure interview or message board that the champ bio's are just wholly irrelevant now? Wish they'd made that more well known to folk who don't go scouring for word of god scraps of lore if that's the case.)

I mean I don't care that much if they want to change the lore around (though fyi, I think the whole Ekko storyline "ebil Pilteys" thing is hella weird. 'Specialy given how many nutters and heinous people his own city constantly churns out. Not much of a leg for him to stand on there. Worry about your own city dude.) I've got no beef with that. But can't they try and do it at remotely the same time? Or just announce that they know the lore is going to be really wonky for a while until they get someone on it?

Like, before this (far as I know), we had no idea that Piltover folk frequented Zaun. We had a glimpse that Viktor and Jayce we're rivals, but that's about all? And Vi's back story implied (Well still implies. They didn't actually adjust it at all) that Piltover, like Zaun, had it's own separate slums, problems, and down on their luck citizens to mishandle. Now their big thing is messing with... Zaun's poor? Wouldn't that be more a... Zaun noble problem? Why's Piltover got enough power that Zaun youth hate specifically them above anyone else? Ugh. Perhaps we just need more info? Another source of lore or something, maybe.

To be brutally honest, my first thought when I read Ekko's lore was "Did the person who wrote this..... realize Zaun and Piltover are two different, distant cities?" Chances are they did, of course! I know that's a bit to harsh, but it really came off like that to me. Really, the lore just feels like a big mess right now. I adore lore and theory crafting, but it's so grabeled right now that it seems completely silly to try to make sense of it until they do whatever lore rework their planning that (I'd assume) was the cause of so many champ bio's to be cut to a paragraph or less.
