Lissandra and Yago's World Rune

While discussing with The Iceborn on Discord, we came up with a theory, that we think it's actually plausible. So remember Ryze's color story "An old friend"? There, he goes to his old friend Yago to retrieve the World Rune that he is keeping to use so he can keep the ice trolls away from his village. This is where our theory starts. After Yago asks Ryze to give him more time, this happens:

“It can wait no longer. Dark forces gather to take it. It leaves with me today” Ryze demanded.

So, what are those "dark forces" actually? Well, if you haven't guessed it already because of my cooperator The Iceborn, we think it might be none other than Lissandra. Why? Because:

  1. The story takes place in Freljord.
  2. Lissandra is a dark magic user, is very influent in Freljord, and has hidden dark plans, therefore she qualifies as a dark force.
  3. She would benefit greatly from getting a World Rune,

Now this is where it gets deeper.

“You would take it from us, knowing it is all that keeps the trolls away?” asked Yago.

The reason Yago wanted the Rune is so the trolls can be kept away. But why were the trolls there in the first place? Most other Freljord villages and settlements don't seem to have a troll problem. BUT

With a knowing grin, he offered the Ice Witch a devious proposition: a troll army, he told her, would be of much more use to her than one troll corpse....

Lissandra has trolls on her command without most of the Frostguard knowing. So, our theory is that she sent the trolls to recover the World Rune from Yago. Ryze was such in a hurry to retrieve the World Rune because eventually Lissandra herself would come for the World Rune, accompanied by the troll army she first sent to gather it but failed. So what do you think of our theory?

I always assumed Ryze was talking about the Watchers sending Voidborn to retrieve world runes, similar to what we saw in Call of power. I'm not sure if I would categorize Lissandra and her Frostguard as "dark forces". While she is certainly plotting something devious, I doubt that Ryze is aware of her intentions.

I don't think trolls came from Lissandra. Freljord is a cruel place in general: Brand's mother was unable to leave the village that spat in her face because she knew she won't survive. The village was going to exile Brand, but in truth they wanted him dead: they knew he will die out there on his own. So finding a good place to stay and live is really hard. Maybe the territory of Yago's settlement overlapped with trolls' domain, but he was willing to hold on to it because there are few locations that great for hunting and fishing in the tundra.
