For this list I am goning to ignore Aurelion Sol and Targonian Aspects, as they are not actual mages but rather cosmic entities. So let's begin. 10.Swain He is very knowledgble because of his demon. Speaking of his demon, it's the source of his power, and has allowed him to take control over the empire and defeat Darkwill. 9.Vladimir This guy is said to have influenced the affairs of Noxus since its earliest days. He is a master hemomancer, allowing him to control blood and have mastery over blood spells, as well as manipulating others. 8. Leblanc Her speciality in magic is manipulation and deceive, as well as making illusions. Has been around since Mordekaiser's reign, and is almost as old as Ryze (Rune Wars were before Mordekaiser, since every nation was destroyed as a state during them and Noxus still exists, Noxus was right after Mordekaiser, thus the logical events would mean Mordekaiser took advantage of the Rune Wars to become a tyrant after they ended.) Her age as well as her acces to magical artifacts and ancient knowledge makes her very powerfull. 7.Velkoz One of the most powerfull and the most ancient Void-Born on runeterra. Vel'Koz uses void magic in the form of plasma to disintegrate his targets to research them. He is also the most intelligent Voidborn, and given his age his knowledge is one of his most powerfull weapons. 6.Brand This guy is being powered by a World Rune and he was able to hold his own against Ryze for a while. His fire magic is very powerfull being capable of casually melting through a large building as well as having acces to a wide vareity of fire spells. Ah and he was Ryze's apprentice before he got coruppted by a World Rune. 5.Lissandra She was given the capability of manipulating Dark Ice, a corupted version of True Ice which is unmeltable, by the Watchers themselves.. She was around for a long time so her knowledge and experience of magic is great. 4.Karthus A lich from the Shadow Isles, Karthus is able to utlise Black Mist magic and control the souls of the dead. His necromancy and experience gained from his long-live is not to be underestimated. 3. Syndra A very powerfull mage, her color story that was realeased by accident and it's gonna get realeased again in the near future shows her telekinessis being extremly powerfull, being able to hold in air an entire building. Her Dark Spheres can go through a normal human like it's nothing, and her raw power is incredible. 2.Xerath Xerath is an former magus, now Ascended. His magic was buffed a lot by his Ascension and he was able to beat Nasus in a fight in the story "Bloodline", as well as stalemating Nasus and Renekton while fighting them both. He is capable of magic energy blasts that stun his target, energy beams, firing white fire comets, and much more. 1.Ryze This guy is old asf, and knows a ton of spells. His exposure to the magic of the World Runes heavily modified his appearence and buffed his magic. From several quotes from his stories we know that a part of the World Runes energy flows through Ryze's entire body, causing his tatoos to glow when he is using magic as well as his eyes when he goes all out. We have seen Ryze one-shotting a high-tier voidborn when he got serious, gaining the uper-hand against Brand in his comic without any struggle, whom I may add is being powered by a World Rune and Ryze defeated him without going full-out, since his eyes didn't glow and they glow only when he uses his magic all-out or uses high-tier spells.

Tell me your thoughts about my list and if you think I got the order right. Give arguments pls. Sorry for my bad english.

I'm not actually sure Vel'Koz is a mage in lore. I think he may just be a creature whose biology is capable of generating plasma. I could be wrong though

Vel'Koz is also kind of a cosmic entity, and his magic works differently than Runeterran magic, so I'd take him out.

I would replace him with: Zilean

We don't really know what he can do, or the extent of his abilities, but he's a mage who can meddle with time. That proves he's at least decently powerful.

{quoted}

Ryze was never transformed by the Runes. That's what makes him different from Tyrus, and able to continue the mission for centuries afterwards.

(With varied results!)

Ryze's whole thing is that he refuses to use the World Runes' power, and so isn't corrupted or modified by them. He's blue and long-lived because of his own magic.

I'd put Xerath at number 1. The guy has been shown to wield anti-army levels of power and is basically a walking nuke. The sarcophagus is even supposed to suppress him but that didn't stop him from defeating Nasus and razing Vekaura.

I'm surprised Veigar isn't in top 10. His lore isn't updated so it's easy to skip over him, but commanding the fundamental dimensions of time and space, creating event horizons, summoning dark matter, dark energy, and the primordial forces that made up the early universe, all while having infinitely growing power, seems like god-mode cheat levels of powerful. I'd definitely rank him above Karthus.

Now if they were that good in-game. :^)

No bias from your username at all :)

Ughm...

You say Ryze is old asf, but Xerath is even older than him. Fall of Shurima was more than 3 thousand years ago. Rune Wars were after Fall of Shurima. If being old is a criter for power level, Xerath is winner at this case, which is actually not.

Xerath, even as an human mage was capable of summoning terrible sandstorms, casting lightning bolts and controlling mortal mind. I really doubt Ryze can mind control, he would if he could.

He was also powerful enough to burn bones to ashes, example is Azir's father, the Emperor, and his guards.

After his Ascension, he couldn't be defeated be 2 of the most powerful of the ASCENDED (which are godlike beings even Ryze admits) at their PRIME when he was at his weakest (for 2 reasons, first him being newly Ascended so mega foreign to his new powers, second sarcophagus limiting his powers significantly).

His magic is so volatile and so destructive, his death could mean end of Shurima continent. It is said many times Xerath's death would destroy everything.

He sometimes doesn't even show effort to kill. He just needs them to be near and his body will take care of everything. He melts metal close to him, burns to ashes everything on a human body. His arcane barrages melts rocks instantly.

He, singlehandly crushed Nasus, an high tier Ascended. He couldn't even stand. Nasus was even scared to fight against him alone...

An extremely potent Ascended like Xerath is clearly more powerful than a fragile human mage like Ryze. He was even struggling against human soldiers of Navori (yeah I know he doesn't want to kill them and if he wanted he wouldn't struggle but still it shows he is glass cannon, powerful magic caster with mortal flesh).

Even without that I believe Xerath is more focused on offensive spells while Ryze is more focused on utility spells. Xerath likely cannot teleport, and Ryze likely cannot summon sandstorms. They have different aspects of magic they master.

Lissandra's magic teachers (the watchers) rival aurelion sol in power.

She is scary AF, not sure Syndra in her current state ranks above her.

And whats more, if the current unofficial timeline is truly on point then she is actually almost 1000 years older than Ryze, and she is basically the void equivalent of a top tier ascended as her starting point, with some of the most powerful magic using beings having taught her for at least 10 years or more.

I dare say, even without a world rune to back her up,,,,,,,,,,IF the timeline is right then she probably beats Ryze because 1000 years more to practice and improve your magic and never aging or growing weaker ensures that you are pretty darn terrifying, world runes or not.

Just looking at the fact that she as far as we know hasnt even gone out of her way to take one makes you think that she feels comfortable without it, and since the void knows what they do she definitely does too.

Karma is quite powerful although rarely uses destructive magic. She demolished a Noxian fleet with little effort.

Really odd that the guy who is currently threatening the entire world didn't get a look in....

Packun Flower8/2/2018, 3:39:17 PM1 votes

Lore wise i believe Annie has a lot of untapped and hidden potentiol to be destructive and powerful.

Wacky98/2/2018, 7:35:58 PM1 votes

With the new Darkin lore, aren't Xerath and Azir technically Darkin?

I don't think this is a good analysis of their power, the majority is just their age... For example, Syndra (at least on release) was omnipotent who didn't have full knowledge of her power (to put mildly). Then, you can argue telekinesis on a small scale lets you do anything.
