This new lore

Short disclaimer: This is mostly just a rant, and I'm fully aware that auerilon sol and someone else are yet to come, maybe everything will make more sense.

What the hell are these people doing living at the base of the mountain? They spend their days eking out a living by the skin of their teeth, weekends killing supernatural creatures coming off from the mountains, and their holidays trudging up the ever-changing mountain so that a third can give up and go home, and two thirds can die. The single person who makes it in a couple generations has his identity blasted away. WHY HAVEN'T THEY LEFT. Their population and way of life is unsustainable.

Leona used to be a defender of the weak. Now she's dogmatic and angry. Diana used to be on a quest for vengeance. Now she's on a quest for reconciliation and killing of void creatures. Why? Why was this changed? I loved both of their characters before. They've just been changed for no reason. If you needed to have diana kill void creatures, you could have just done that. She can hate the solari and fight void creatures. Leona could've been the one pleading for reason and cooperation.

That's the biggest thing that is pissing me off. I have been waiting for a reconciliation story between Leona and Diana. That or a broken reconciliation. This would've been a perfect opportunity. Void creatures come, and the only way to defeat them is for the sun and the moon to come together. (And for the spartans to stand strong). Leona is out trying to protect her people, watching as the void creatures become stronger and more numerous. Her scholars are searching desperately for answers. Meanwhile Diana is out wandering the wilderness, trying to piece together her fragmented memories. Diana holds the key piece of insight into the whole mess.

Now, we have a Leona who is fueled by hate. She is no better than her elders. AND SHE WAS THERE FOR THE WHOLE SPEECH AND WE DIDN'T GET HER THOUGHTS ON IT. She was there, she heard it, she saw diana's fury and tried to stop her but failed. And then she followed the shining footprints up the mountain. So why hasn't she followed those shining footprints, not stopping and fueled by fury, and then burned diana alive with the sun's fury? This new diana isn't going to bother fighting bandits when diana is around. Leona's character is....ruined. What made her good before is gone, and what replaced it is ignoring it's driving purpose (if it even has one).

Riot, your job was to add depth. Not to just change things because they were lacking.

_The warrior who came down the mountain looked the same as the one who had climbed it, but inside Leona was much changed. She still had her memories and thoughts, was still master of her own flesh, but a sliver of something vast and inhuman had chosen her to be its mortal vessel. It gifted her with incredible powers and awful knowledge that haunted her eyes and weighed heavily upon her soul; knowledge she could only ever share with one person.

Now, more than ever, Leona knew she had to find Diana._

Leona's original lore had nothing to do with Diana. It was about how she chose to spare the life of one of her peers in a blood ritual (@~18yrs of age). If you read the Halls of Justice, you'll know that she entered the Institute of War so that she can end that ritual in her village as repentance for all those in the past she could not save that died because of it.

This new lore is A LOT LESS DARKER than the old lore and cooler at the same time. Think about it. Would you rather read about Spartans fighting against raiders like those in LotR while saving the world from void creatures x Mordor or would you rather read about inhuman village practices due to a scarcity of food?
