So is Swain vastayan, or some how a descendant of the tribe? Maybe he transfused their blood with his own, thus granting him his 'bird-person' powers. Rakan special interactions However moving on from Swain Rakan mentions similar notions toward Udyr Raising similar questions about the Spirit guard, are they a bloodline of humans with vastayan blood, hence their "intunement" with nature and its spirits? Or is Rakan speaking metaphorically, what do you guys think?

Personally, I think that the answer being simply that they all just have remnants of vastyayn blood being the answers to these questions are boring which is why the Swain interaction caught my eye, because even if it still is linked to the blood, there is a chance for there to be more, maybe the purpose of the Ionian invaison was specifically to get this blood, maybe this is how Swain got his power could he be building an army? Or is he just one of the many diluted Vastyan bloodline descendants scattered across Runeterra? And how would this play a role in Swain's future lore for the 'anticipated Noxus event'.

Since we're on the topic: Alistar and Volibear won't be related to the Vastaya (imo) and there is a possibility MonkeyKing stays the same.

To me it would be a bad move for Riot to keep Wukong the same. He has hardly anything in his lore and it's mostly just Journey to the West references. Being Vastayan gives him a chance to have something that is unique to league and some decent character depth along with it. Even the stuff with Master Yi being his master is referencing Sun Wukong learning martial arts. They already missed out on stuff with Ryze possibly giving some kind of insight on the Rune stone that created Wukong. If he doesn't end up being Vastayan then they might as well just come out and say "Yep, he's the same Wukong from Journey to the West".

I don't think Ryze would have been necessary, unless you mean the that if he were a rune stone Ryze should have taunts to him. They could always turn things on its head so that he was a vastayan monkey that came in contact with a Rune stone, opposed to being made from the stone itself. That way he is vastyan but remains a journey to the West parody. Also Wukong's existence as a product of a Rune stone would depend on him, never meeting Ryze, because Ryze would kill him, so in a way it makes sense that Ryze has no interactions with him, atm.

Yea that. I mean it would be nice if he knew of what kind of rune stone Wukong came from, but a taunt would have been fine.

That's pretty much exactly what I am hoping for. I don't want him to lose all his ties to Journey to the West all together, then he wouldn't be Wukong anymore. But at the same time I would like it if he had something that REALLY set him apart as well. Currently his lore is like they took the Journey to the west story and just filled in the blanks with league related stuff. The Vastayans give a great way to give him that unique bit of lore he needs. It would be a huge shame if they don't take advantage of this for Wukong in someway.

Do think him having a vastayan background will open any doors for him? Wait... no, is Ahri x Wukong becoming a canon thing (if he gets a vastayan bg)

It will open a lot of things for him. He's being trained by a human, so he obviously doesn't have the same hate that the new champs have for humans, making him in their eyes "part of the problem". This also could mean that he thinks humans and vastayans can get along and would fight to make this happen.

Then his title of the monkey king could be explained better as well. Right now it's just that he is Wukong and that's why he's called that. With this addition, it could mean that he is the leader of his tribe, which makes him king. Or even that he could be the king of the vastayans (it's a stretch, but still possible). His lore is so barren right now that anything added to it has a lot of potential to give him a lot more depth.

As for the Ahri x Wukong thing, I don't think that should become canon. Their personalities don't really fit in a "relationship" setting in general. Wukong likes fighting more then anything else and Ahri... well she has a lot of fans, so putting her into any relationship would likely make a lot of people mad. Ahri is pretty much just one of those characters that people like to ship with everyone, and limiting that would be a bad move for Riot. Now if Riot were to do that, thats up to them, I'm just saying from a marketing standpoint it would be a bad idea.

Haha! True that about the Ahri fanboys (no offense to the actual mains). I hope we see at least one of your ideas make it, leader of an entire tribe sounds interesting, personally I like this idea the most.

Hopefully we get an Ionian event that isn't only about the Vastaya. Wukong probably will be one, but is it unusual for a Vastaya to be trained in Wuju?

As for Udyr, I doubt that he has Vastayan blood - but if he has any children, they might. My guess is that Udyr is very familiar with the shape-shifting spirits that spawned the original Vastaya.
