Okay so I posted my opinion on others opinion of the new Swain splash, but I get the feeling I may get more of a response here then in the other discussion.
Here's what I think:
Hold on you and I guess others here have a problem with the new splash because its not entirely an accurate depiction of what Swain's in-game looks like, yes? Okay sure I think we can all agree that splash art is very important for the representation of personalities and appearances of champions, but surly Riot can deviate just a little bit. You and again a lot of other people on this board, though over different subjects act like Riot can't even attempt at variation or creativity. To me the splash art for champs is meant to be an epic and ideal representation to champs, this means that maybe the splash version has smaller details in it designed to change and exaggerate features into looking more monstrous, villainous, heroic, mysterious or even perhaps comical. Also in other words as long as the spirit of the character in intact, it really doesn't matter that things are slightly different to the in-game model. Honestly you can't tell me Swain's new splash changes everything about him, that it misinforms the viewer to what Swain is meant to look like because I would bet most players wouldn't even notice the differences or care for that matter.
I'm sorry if I sound like I'm being an arsehole, but come on is Swain's splash really a problem that is worth addressing? Is the community really this petty over League characters? I'll tell you what I bet you would be the kind of person who if the Joker was a League champ and Jared Leto was the VU, you would all get into a huge melodrama over his new tattoos. If you want to complain about inaccurate splash art or that perhaps the original was better then the new, then create a discussion about the Globalization of splash art issue, there is a million of those going around right now.
