Some Pantheon Questions For Riot

I'm a big fan of riot's approach to reworks, they take key assets of a champion and expand upon it or emphasize it. But, to be terse, Pantheon is a very bland champion with a broad theme: God-like warrior spartan. And since there has been no talk about him, I was hoping to ask questions I could hopefully get answers to.

  1. Atreus is the current Pantheon, and the soul of pantheon gets 'passed around' once the warrior dies. Is it possible the pantheon rework is the transition into a NEW Pantheon? This could explain new armor and looks.
  2. Will Pantheon still look like a normal warrior with red eyes or will he have a more 'aspect' look to him?
  3. Will Pantheon still long to be a baker? I will humbly wait c:

Welp, I'm here to provide a serious comment cause the first guy's probably 12 and here to trumpet his useless opinion.

Excited to hear the answers to this question. While Atreus is currently very fleshed out, I can see Riot giving Pantheon a new host for sure. They're going to have to give him a homage to bakerdom somewhere, probably in a single special VO line for Baker Panth.

well reworks are a nightmare for me because I lost 3 champions because of it. Nunu,Aatrox and mordekaiser i used to play the old versions of. I got perm banned twice for toxicity so dont try to frame me in my match history of never playing these champs.

Old nunu was such a hillarious champion for me and i even got a penta as him when i was full ap camping a bush. I love instantly losing my team the game because i chose to go full tank jg old nunu. But now people just abuse him for freelo.

Old mordekaiser was such a raidboss when i play him because of his HUGE 1v2 outplay potential once u got lvl 6 when the jg decided to gank you in the top lane. You just press w to heal and spam e to get shields and q because of the big BONK but now hes just a 1v1 champ.

Old aatrox was a champion that whenever i fought against, I always destroyed him until he got his mid to late powerspike and just DESTROYED everyone. Tbh after spam pinging thornmail to my tank we can finally beat him and won the game but i love playing him and i miss it. People complained how hes such a op drain tank but we have rhaast in the game. The most saddest part is that he was popular in pro play RIGHT before his rework. Players begged to get him reverted but riot just looked away.

Hope this makes you think about your perspective on reworks a little bit.

  1. when the Pantheon lore came out there was a decent sized group who disliked it, myself included. The treatment of Atreus being one major point of criticism. Probably as a means of just shutting us all up Rioter Jaredan posted “Atreus story is not finished.” So I’d be doubtful he’s getting killed and replaced. It would make his whole lore pointless. Plus the line about one man standing up against the gods makes it seem less likely were just getting more of arguably the worst of the gods continuing to be an ass.

  2. He’ll probably look more like an Aspect. We do not know for certain, but we have seen details on his spear in the teaser. It has gone from an oversized but roughly proportional dory spearhead to some strange trident thing with a gaping hole at the point of connection between spearhead and shaft. Since this is frankly a terrible design for a weapon, I think it’s safe to say they’re going to go a bit more space nonsense with the design.

They do seem to be keeping the ripped cloak though. Which I like. It makes him look like he actually fights for a living.

  1. I don’t know. On the one hand, the joke would likely no longer make sense. On the other there’s a whole skin that only makes sense because of the joke. But then back to that first hand, do skins need to make sense? One of his skins is just He-Man. Why? Because! Really this one is a tossup.

  1. I don't think they will do this, but it is an interesting possibility. I would be sad if they glossed over Atreus's story, because I was very invested in Atreus's journey in Pantheon's bio.

  2. Seems like they will make him more "starry" to match with the Targonian aesthetic/theme. I expect him to retain some Spartan-like elements, though, as that is very iconic for Pantheon. I'm sure one of his skins will be even more Spartan-y, like Myrimidon or Perseus (man, he has a lot of Greco-Roman themed skins, doesn't he? Even Ruthless and Glaive Warrior are Roman-esque. Interested to see where they will take those. Ruthless is such a weird skin name...)

  3. There will surely be some reference to his desire to be a baker. Maybe this will be one Atreus's desires! At the very least, he has his Baker skin, so the reference to baking won't go away entirely.

Looking forward to his big reveal.
