Young?

Like ridiculously young compared to what his story had always implied before hand.

Like I'm not a Xin Zhao player so it's not like this affects me personally, but it certainly does leave me scratching my head.

Personally this old splash made me think he was in his early fifties. At least.

And considering he's old enough to have saved Jarvan IV's grandfather.... He probably shouldn't look that young and hot.

Do we even know how long Jarvan III has been the king? It could have been only a few years since the death of his father, so maybe Xin Zhao has only been rescued by J2 like 5 years ago (being that he would be around his prime, and so makes sense that he is relatively young)

That's a very good point. I'm not actually sure. In Jarvan IV's lore, it states that he was groomed to take over as king from the time of his birth as a royal prince. And it later says that as soon as he comes of age, his father is the one who bestows his military rank upon him. So, we know for a fact that J3 has been king at least since J4 came of age which is at least a decade, as it has to cover all his beginning military training, his first successful campaign, his botched campaign and capture by Noxus, his rescue/escape, his time spent healing, training and fighting Shyvana's mother with Shyvana and the villagers, his return to the capital, and finally his resuming of normal battle affairs.

But I suspect that because it states he was groomed to take over at birth, that J3 was king at the time he was born. The kings of Demacia are not hereditary. They are chosen by a council, so there's actually no way that a grandson of a king would automatically be assumed to be third in line. But if J3 was elected after J2, he might think that he could sway them into picking his son as well.

Though honestly I’d prefer it if he was older. Grey haired older.

Iguess that a change to the lore will be made... To be fair the age of Xin has been a problem always.

Xin has always been too young looking for his implied age anyway, so I'm not too bothered by that.

Most of his skins make him look around 30's except for imperial, I wouldnt say he is exactly old looking in his original splash either.

And I agree that he looks kind a young. I don't really read lore much so I don't know what he supposed to look like. But in this splash he looks like he's early 20s or something like that. Whatever, I admire the good art, and this is one of them.

I'm guessing he'll be a foil to Kayn. Both had stuff in Noxus, and both went to another crowd. But I don't think Xin will be particularly cocky. His job is guarding the king: he'll have to do a good job at it.

This definitely fits Demacia a lot better, but looks nothing like he does in-game. He should just get a model or even a texture update to better align him to the splash (which is awesome).

Within Xin being connected to Noxus lore I want a Xin lore Update to come soon since his is outdated. I hate him in game, but i love lore

Why does Xin Zhao look Asian?

TL;DR - Xin Zhao is an Ionian who was captured by Noxus during their invasion of Ionia and was force to fight as a gladiator. He swore allegiance to Demacia after Demacian forces freed him.

It would actually be pretty cool if Riot did a skin for Xin Zhao in an alternate timeline where a) Ionia was never invaded OR b) an alternate timeline where Demacian forces never freed Xin Zhao but instead he earned his own freedom by winning enough gladiator bouts, joined the Noxian Military and climbed the ranks to become a Commander.
