It definitely felt like the writer(s) were inferring she knew the other team previously. Or perhaps she was able to sense they were SG as well. Correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't the lore say she lost her original team in a fatal kind of way? I thought she was the lone survivor, etc.
Syndra and Janna are both OG Star Guardians, and Syndra is Ahri's advisor as Janna is Lux's. Syndra's bio hints at her possibly sacrificing her Star Guardian powers for something different. IMHO I hope they go this route and make a legendary Syndra skin where she becomes an antagonist to the SGs. Someone listed a concept for "Star Tyrant Syndra", while I don't care much for the name, the artwork and ideas are incredible. It's on the forums somewhere.
Miss Fortune was the only other survivor of Ahri's old team. It says so on her page. ("A member of Ahri’s original team, Miss Fortune is a hot-headed gunslinger, renowned across the galaxy as a monster slayer.") Meanwhile Syndra lost her whole team. Janna...not so sure about her past. Still mysterious.
