So i know the old lore was, the nations of valoran was fighting, and it was destroying the land, so the League Of Legends was made to have a place where summoners could control champions to fight to determine national problems. From what i understand Riot just completely removed this from the lore. So what is the current lore at now? The league of legends battling is uncannon and everyone just has there own side stories?

There's no League of Legends or Institute of War that makes everyone fight. Everyone's just doing their own thing as the world moves forward.

  • The Freljord is embroiled in a civil war between large tribes who have been gathering other tribes to their cause. Ashe leads the Avarosan and has teamed up with numerous tribes including the Barbarians. Sejuani leads the Winter's Claw and has teamed up with various tribes including some Lokfar warriors and Volibear's Ursine. Lissandra, known to outsiders as the Ice Witch, leads the Frostguard and has a tenuous alliance with the Trolls under Trundle, the Troll King. All have their own agendas in this and the outcome isn't clear right now.

  • In the wake of the Noxian invasion, Ionia's undergoing some dramatic shifts politically and culturally as they're still recovering from the damage done by the invasion. Some folks want massive change while others push for a more traditional approach to things. Either way big changes have already begin to occur as Ionians have started dabbling in hextech. It likely won't be long before they become a strong contendor on the world stage.

  • Noxus has been expanding its borders for a long time and though their invasion of Ionia ultimately failed, they're still going strong. They're the biggest nation in Runeterra in terms of land they control and have been encoraching in to the Southern Continent and by extension Shurima, as well as still duking it out with Demacia.

  • Demacia's always been content to keep to itself, and has prospered for years regardless of its external enemies, though questions abound about whether Demacia can adapt to the changing world or whether they'll be left behind.

  • Piltover and Zaun have become the world's centre stage at the moment as Piltover rakes in riches from across the world thanks to their control over the only oceanic trade route between east and west Valoran that's easily accessible. From this hextech has begun to boom, and a lot of people are VERY interested in it, namely Noxus and Ionia.

  • In Shurima the capital has been restored and Azir, Shurima's last emperor, has been ressurected and Ascended. As the rivers of the land once again flow from the capital Xerath's also been making motions for his dominion over the world. With the return of the Ascended in a big way a lot's changing for Shurima, and Runeterra itself, as the powers that allowed those Ascended to be born have returned with Azir.

  • Mount Targon's always been influenced by Targon itself, but rarely did it intervene with the work of an Aspect. Now there are FOUR Aspects, which speaks to the problems happening with Targon. Couple that with Aurelion Sol making his return to Runeterra and things are getting intense on the mountain.

  • Bilgewater saw Gangplank deposed and subsequently it fell in to chaos as he was the guy keeping the lawbreakers in check. Now Illaoi, Miss Fortune and Gangplank are all vying for power in their own ways, with MF wanting to scour crime from the city, Gangplank wanting to reclaim his rightful throne, and Illaoi supporting both, wanting change for Bilgewater regardless of who brings it. This is slightly compounded by the Black Mist and Harrowings though.

  • The Shadow Isles only grow stronger with each Harrowing, with Mordekaiser moving towards conquering his old home of Noxus Prime in the future. Forces on the isles are there and growing strong enough to challenge Mordekaiser, but all have their own agendas too. Karthus has his own vision for the Black Mist, Maokai wants to purify the isles, Yorick wants to kill it and Kalista's just out for blood. And souls.

  • The Void's pressence in Runeterra is limited in places, but to fuel their engines of creation they're all for consuming Runeterra. New Voidborn like Vel'Koz have been cropping up in recent times while old Voidborn threats like Rek'Sai remain a big problem. With Malzahar speaking for the Void among Shurima's denizens it's unclear how things will proceed here.

  • Bandle City is weird and remains weird.
