How Many Ascended Are there? And, Morgana and Kayle

"You would bind yourself to this realm. Morgana? Fine, let me show you the ground!" -

"You disgust me, Morgana. Die in the filth of your bound flesh!" -

- all ascended normally

- botched ascension

-Were ascended, corrupted, sealed in weapons. Added with Darkin lore update. Not certain of original animal forms.

-new Aatrox hints at them being ascended in some way. This would tie them into some existing lore rather than just being too characters unattached to anything. But why are they different and bound to Runeterra? I don't know how to feel about it.

I think the best way to describe Xerath's ascension is "overloaded" because when he was ascending he was controlling the mages responsible for the ascension ritual and forcing them to drain as much power from the Sun Disc as he could. It has incredible power - possibly more power than any other ascended in terms of sheer raw strength but he's crippled by the instability of his form

Well we know from the Twilight of the Gods that there were at least 10 Darkin, who were all Ascended at one point and lost it over time after being exposed to the Void, to some degree.

Xuuyan was killed in battle against the other Darkin.

Shabaka, and Shabake, yes, two Darkin had the same name, apparently their ascension caused 1 person to be divided into 2 beings, or at least something like that. They had the ability to see the future and disappeared into a cloud of feathers and dust when they were hit by Sivir's crossblade.

Syphax, Zigantus, and Enakai, were all disintegrated by the crossblade shooting a giant moon beam.

Then we got Ta'anari, who fought against the other Darkin, wielding the crossblade, and was later sealed within it, although no one on the boards wants to accept that Sivir will eventually become a Darkin.

Lastly, we got Naganeka, Valeeva, and Cebotaru. Then we have Teushpa, Sulpae and Idri-Mi, who were warrior women, who at one point wielded each of the remaining Darkin before sealing them away once they awoke. We know at least one of the remaining Darkin was sealed beneath Demacia, maybe that is where Kayle's unworthy Ascended powers came from and how Morgana became bound.

I wouldn't really call Xerath "botched," given how much more powerful he is. That said, I'm actually expecting Kayle and Morgana to be made into botched Ascendants. We did have a Riot post a while back talking about how those who failed the Ascension ritual become "half-formed" things called Baccai.

It was said that the forms of the ascended are rooted in their own beliefs,cultural views and minds,so the shuriman ascended turn into animal guys,because animal symbolism is strong in the shuriman language,which means that ascended from different cultures would look quite differently,so I expect Kayle&Morgana to be ascended that aren't from shurima.
