Honestly, I feel bad for Zed

A Superb Villain·4/14/2017, 3:46:00 PM·148 votes·6,526 views

Dude's just chilling in an abandoned tower, trying to find inner peace, casually draining the magic of a local forest, when a couple of punks come knocking on his door. They make a mess of the front yard, kill a good number of his disciples (assuming they aren't shadows), and then interrupt his meditation.

How rude.

Worst of all, Xayah trashes his crystal mobile, which probably took a while getting it to the size shown in Wild Magic. Now, I'm no expert when it comes to draining the essence of an enchanted forest, but given the tiny flakes we see gradually accumulating, I estimate Zed was putting that thing together for the better part of a week. Hours of work gone in seconds because some harpy dusts it with her filthy feathers. Zed won't be winning first place in the science fair this year.

Now you might say, "Hold on, Villain. Zed was sucking the life from surrounding forest, he was destabilizing the local ecology. By draining the area of magic, he was inadvertently harming many creatures reliant on magic for survival, including Vastaya!" To which I reply, of course he was, but is it really so bad?

I would like to now call attention to the cinematic's title Wild Magic. How often in folklore or mythology does the unbridled magic of wild places harm whatever poor sap happens to wander through? Magic, in its natural, mystical state is capricious, arbitrary, and most importantly, hostile. Not something you want to be near, temporarily or permanently.

It should be clear that Zed is taking magic and concentrating it into a crystalized state. An important facet of crystallization is the arrangement of molecules into a particular pattern, often structured and organized. Zed is collecting wild, unstable magic to condense it into a tempered state, he is refining magic. You might think this is incredibly unethical, and you would be right, but at least that magic isn't royally screwing you over because you stepped off the beaten path.

And hey, it's an efficient source of reliable magic! What's not to love? ######Unless you are Vastaya, in which case, woops, sorry, better luck in the spirit realm. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

PS: Can a meme lord make a crappy Jordan Mcdonald's PSA with Galio's face on top of his. "Say no to magic, Stahp it"

Well I mean that's the whole point of contention right? Humans can't exactly live in a world of wild, unbridled magic and have an easy time. Moulding and shaping it to a form that's usable and safe for them seems logical. Vastaya have it easy since they thrive in that kind of environment, and our newest duo doesn't seem to care to sympathise with the plight of humans in a world that dangerous.

Course then you go a step too far and you're like "Oh yeah sorry Ryze, we blew up your village and all of the surrounding lands. Our bad. Actually not our bad, MAGIC DEATH FOR EVERYONE" and then you get to Runeterra now and everyone's sad.

This is why we should just all go to Demacia. No magic shenanigans to be had there, and no pesky vastayans either.

I assumed this was going to be about Xayah attacking Zed in his safe place.

I'm glad to see that the Association of Evil along with Superb Villain cares more for us humans than those overgrown Furbies and are standing up for us.

I actually feel sorry for him because he lost due to "new champion promotion". Honestly, he is way older and experienced than both of those kids and could slit their throats before they layed eyes upon the temple. I doubt he'd be THAT slow in a fight as he was in the cinematic. Shadows aren't that limited in speed and uncertainty.

Dammit, fucking Greenpeace, ruining poor Zed's work.

Stars Shaper4/14/2017, 6:53:35 PM3 votes

Bad luck, reading your writing I can indeed sympathize with him xD

I "fear" Zed is the Villain bound to being unsuccesful whatever he does even more than Viktor (his fanbase is dangerous if you put him in a bad state). I guess Shen is going to have a fat laugh when gets to know about this.

1 thousand year old civilization or hundreds of hundred year old civilizations? Sometimes, you just have to suck it up and shoot the hostage.

Or eat purple.

Maybe Zed is a bad guy, but he's not a BAD GUY.

I would like to see a cinematic where Zed goes to find Viktor, makes a deal with him. And together they return to defeat these Vastaya punks.

Well you ain't wrong. Whenever magic pops up in folklore, shit usually hits the fan.
