Could Skarner now be guarding an entrance to the Void?

I AM NOT SAYING THAT CREATURE WAS SKARNER

So as far as we know, the Brackern was retconed out of existence.

What do we know about him now? He's purple, "Merciless" and he guards a "realm deep beneath the Shuriman wastes."

Now here's where my speculation comes in.

I theorize that Skarner is guarding the entrance to the Void dimension where all the void monsters originate. His purple coloring, monster features, and new description would work very well for a "Guardian" Void creature.

From the New champion teaser we can see a Void monster lurking in the sands of Shurima (ITS FEMALE BTW), while this doesn't concretely say anything, I think it suggests that Icathia(If it even still exists/which we know to be a desert region) is somewhere very close to Shurima.

What if Icathia is below Shurima and is the place of entrance to the void? What if the portal to the void opened by Xeraths Botched Ascension? What if Skarner "Misses his kind" whom are of the void?

Just some thoughts I wanted to throw out there.

On the Shurima promo page there was a line said by Nasus:

"THE SUN DISC WAS ANCIENT EVEN THEN. WE KNEW OF ITS POWER, MY BROTHER AND I, AND SHURIMA FACED A DIRE THREAT, FROM MYSTERIOUS BEINGS UNLIKE ANY WE HAD EVER KNOWN."

I've been convinced for a while that the mysterious beings were the Brackern, and Nasus and Renekton ascended to fend them off and protect Shurima. But I always figured that the Shurimans had pissed the Brackern off somehow.

Potentially a tear that led to the Outside brought forth Voidborn to Shurima, right on top of the Brackern. Perhaps they were forced to flee their home under the desert sands and find refuge on the surface. Perhaps it was there they had an unfavorable relationship with the Shurimans, and they went at it, and then, forced back by Nasus and Renekton and with their numbers decimated because of the Voidborn invaders and the Ascended warriors, the Brackern had to bury themselves in the hopes of waiting out the storm: repopulating, recovering their strength, for when they could retake their true home. And it was Skarner, one of the greatest among them, who volunteered to guard the entrance way to this underground realm, the lone vanguard against the Voidborn and Shurimans who would see his kind to extinction.

I'm conviced there's some connection between Skarner and this new champion. Convinced. I'll be kinda sad if it turns out I wasn't even close to what actually happened! XD

EDIT: Rek'Sai's out and now we know she's a Voidborn, I'm wondering if my theory still holds up, where this Queen of the Xer'Sai is using the Brackern's old home as a nest for her brood.

According to Malzahar's current lore Icathia is to the east of Shurima so it's certainlyT possible. the ruins described in Malz's lore sound like they could be the ruins in the champion reveal video. there's not too much to go on though.

I strongly belive it is possible that that was a void champion, but it can not be related to skarner. First off, skarner will always remain a crystal scorpian, since they just made a new skin for him, so he wont be reworked any time soon. Also, riot stated that no two void creatures are the same, with the exeption of voidlings. Also, skarner's race was shown to be passive. I am not saying this is a bad theory, i totally think this is a void champ, but im not sure about skarner.

I think it's plausible to think Riot might remake Skarner into a voidborn. I wish we'd get more conversation on if Kalamanda happened in the new lore. On one hand, Skarner's origin is gone, and the whole Time Bubble thing couldn't have happened without a League. On the other, Reborn mentions Swain overthrowing Darkwill, which happened in Kalamanda, and LeBlanc mentions using the Prince's blood for a previous ruse, assumedly the one that sparked the fighting, as seen in that one JoJ issue I'm forgetting the number of.

But yeah, purple monster, big claws, if you didn't know his old Lore it wouldn't be hard to imagine he was related to Kha'zix and the like.

Heck if we'll ever know with how Lore is going currently.

isnt the portal to the void located in Icathia? actually...what if Icathia was a rival city of Shurima and was destroyed by the voidborn :O
