on the fence with vel'koz's new lore

Obviously due to it being new lore they are gonna have to change the character a bit. However in his story he's doing things "different". Before he would vaporize everything in order to learn. Now he..doesn't do that? He is a puppet for the Watchers and is doing some weird mind control ability on people.

Even how he is referred to by stories seem...off. He's a devil and he steals dreams? Which doesn't make sense coming from a gameplay perspective.

So I'm all for giving him a newfound purpose but the way He is presented by the stories and how he interacts with everything is out of character. Maybe it's just my bias because i loved how Vel'koz originally just didn't give a sh*t.

Notably, the "devil" and "steals dreams" part is probably just how the people of Runeterra see him. He still learns "KNOWLEDGE THROUGH DISINTEGRATION" but now he has more ways to learn. Plus, probing through someone's eye to reach the direct source of their knowledge -- their brain -- is pretty dark and in line with the setting.

The only real change to his character, in my opinion, is that he now serves the Watchers first and foremost. But it was always implied that he served the masters of the Void. This doesn't mean he's mindless or doesn't have a personality. He's still cold and calculating and has a lust for knowledge.

Also, as I said in a previous comment, Lux has been turning invisible since the old lore and is still doing it now. Just because a character can't do something in game doesn't mean they can't do more stuff. It just means that they CAN do the stuff in game.

Vel'koz likely still melts stuff with his plasma to analyze it,I mean his name literally translates to "to understandby unmaking". He now just has the ability to mind probe people with his tentacles,to get the informations out of their brain in addition to the previous abilities he had,but he unmakes the personality of the person in the process.

Can't really call a 5 year old tease of Vel'Koz being a servant of the Watchers and having psychic powers "new lore."

Pretty sure Vel'Koz can still use plasma and make Void destruptions. He is a high-tier Voidborn after all

I kind of feel like they're making him feel less special. He just seems like a weaker version of the Watchers now, especially since every fucking voidborn we see who's not already a champion looks exactly like Vel (remember the creatures in Nami's comic and Ryze's short?)

If you recall, there were several burn marks around the camp in Vel's new story. These are likely because of his trademark plasma attacks.

He's had voicelines about dissection since his release as well, this isn't a new way of him gaining information. They're just showing it off a bit to show just how much he doesn't actually care about his victims. His goal is knowledge, and he uses whatever means available to him to gain it.

He hasn't actually changed at all. They've just made him a bit more prominent in the universe. It's one of the few times they haven't trashed the old character for their new lore.

Steals dreams? What? He is just able to see their memories. And ofc it wouldnt make sense from gameplay perspective. We have a space dragon that can create stars, a being of immense proportions being able to be dmg by a yordle scout that is using poison darts. And velkoz still learns. He just serves a higher purpose. Him serving the watchers doesnt change a single thing. He is still the hentai eldritch abomination that we all love. He is still curious about everything. Really people need to stop nitpicking for stupid things.
