My thoughts of the new champions

Of course. Straight people get champions that are a couple and meant to lane together where us in the LGBT don't have any... unless you count Ezreal and Taric but that's fan pairing lol. I love the idea of Xayah and Rakan but to me it is another case of game companies catering to straight people. Only way I am going to be buying one of these 2 new champions is if my GF asks me to. But overall the idea of the new champions is cute. I just don't like the fact that they came out with a straight pairing while noone thinks about the LGBT players.

This is kinda pathetic, I am all for LGBT right but this is a video game... "how dare they add a STRAIGHT couple UGHH". Literally the first duo champion release ever unless you count Rengar and Kha'zix which are both male so if it triggers your fancy, play those two. You will not play these champions specifically because there isnt a gay couple in the game yet? Please.

I think you're too shortsighted, I understand that you want more impactful representation and not simple subtext (Cait/vi, Graves/TF, Diana) but Xayah and Rakan represent so much more than just a straight pairing, Xayah herself has a LOT in common with people who suffers from Asperger's, she's pretty reserved for a rebel and while she seems cheerful at times, her lines are mostly about herself feeling awkward or uncomfortable EXCEPT when she's around Rakan who is indredibly outgoing and who represents Xayah's cheerful side

Of course Xayah could have been male or Rakan female but it barely matters when you realize that their core characters aren't defined by their genders or sex but by something else that's much MUCH bigger than sexual orientation

It's not that they push straight characters on purpose its just that there isnt anyone who cares about homosexuality of video game characters, its not even a little relevant and it would only bring a negative effect. Those who ask for that stuff are just desperate losers that see everything the bad way and that life is unfair for them.

There are several reasons why it made sense to make them a straight couple.

First of all it makes sense from a thematic point of view.They clearly went with an "opposites attract"-theme for the 2,I mean Rakan wears bright colors,is very carefree and happy almost all the time,wheras Xayah wears dark colors,always plans ahead and rather grumpy.The 2 having 2 different genders only highlights this. Then there is the fact that I'm pretty sure that Riot want Xayah to be the harpy(I know harpies are usually depicted with wings for arms,but they like to mix things up) of this game and harpies are female,they are defined by their gender.And Rakan was made a pheasant,so it made sense for him to be male.

And then there is the fact that ,LoL is a game that is played in a lot of countries,which puts certain restrictions on it. And there are simply countries who are against homosexual relationships,so if a gay couple would be introduced in the game they'd likely be unable to fully show that in the game. Just look at the new beauty and the beast movie,that film got a 16+ rating in russia and was outright banned from malaysia because it featured a gay character

I don't think theres literally anyone who gives a crap if a LoL champion is gay, not even gay people care about that it wouldn't profit Riot to bother with that kind of stuff. And lorewise Ezreal hasn't even met Taric if i am correct plus they both have been with girls before most likely lol, especially Ezreal.

I'm gay but I still find their relationship cute. I think that (and hear me out, fellow gay people), in our desire to get representation we kind of act like the people we keep having problems with. They say "but having a gay champ wouldn't work too well!" and we say that that doesn't really make sense, and we're right. But now that we've got a straight couple in the game, the gay people (not on the boards mostly, but just around) are complaining and saying the same things that the straight people are saying.

Maybe I'm just a traitor to the community, but I have no problem with a straight couple. Especially since Jaredan said that there'd be gay champs.

It's not like there are a ton of Straight Couples in League. It's Ashe & tryndamere and.... That's it. Okay Illaoi and GP used to be a thing but aren't anymore. Garen & Katarina are just hinted at. Theres plenty of Ship tease between Vi & Caitlyn and well there was Diana at least pre-Targon rework

I actually made a post about this exact issue and don't worry, I got shit for it too. But I think you're looking at it the wrong way. We can't just come out of the woodwork after the cishets do something saying "where are my gays!?!?" Riot already said they're going to implement a queer character, but they want to be careful about it.

Personally, I love the new champions. I disliked them on principle at first, viewing them the same way you are, but they're so well designed is hard not to love them. It also gives me hope for future interactions between possible queer characters (Cait/Vi, make is happen!). But the problem here isn't that they released a couple of cishets, it's that they contradicted an earlier statement regarding this issue. I cover it in my post, but I think it's unfair to say that "noone thinks about the LGBT player." Riot cares, maybe not as much as the Overwatch team, but they know. In their show-of-awkwardness /All Chat, they openly discuss queer pairings on multiple occasions. Riot knows.

I definitely think Riot could have handled this better, but I think you're failing to see the real issue here.

Game creativity shouldn't be bound by the need to represent each and every aspect of life.

Not to mention that demanding that something gets released asap because its opposite did it's an even more idiotic request.

I will assume that you are just baiting, trolling or whatever makes you laugh at the rightfully earned downvotes because if there is even a trace of seriousness you need to get your opinions where they belong: up your backside.
