I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. It is certainly impressive, I just wish maybe it was a bit brighter? I don't know I'll need time to think about it.

I think the dimness fit's the splash art, because it symbolises a dark day in a bright land.

Yeah, I get that. I understand the artist is trying to portray a somber moment of reflection and loss, as Yorick remembers his departed wife and family. I think it's beautiful, there are so many great details in the piece. Like the maiden's face on the shovel, the vial of Blessed Isles water he carries around his neck has turned into an amulet, and his right hand losing its physical form as he reaches out to the ethereal afterlife. I just feel like it's not bright enough? I don't know how to describe it. When compared to the other Arclight splashes they have really vibrant, powerful, bright, yellows and golds, and perhaps this is an unpopular opinion but I quite like them. It's very different than the dynamic poses and splashes we are used to seeing. Velkoz and Vayne for reference. In those splashes the darkness surrounds them but it doesn't overpower them. Anyways that's just my opinion most people seem to love it.

Well to be honest, it feels a lot more physical and with more depth to it than a powerful fantasy trope that resembles Light winning vs Dark. We've seen that, Yorick's an emotional character so it fits for him to be more down-to-earth, even in this form.

Or a bright day in a dark land. One Light in the Darkness

The splash is DOPE. But am I the only one that thinks the helmet is a bit different than the one in-game?

They were right about the splash being nice, but it looks like an absolute lie. The colors are nice in the splash- ingame you're going to be blinded. There is almost no similarity between the color scheme here and the ingame colors. Completely different shades.

Riot says they can't change the colors to match this gorgeous splash, but it just feels to me like when they released those two xerath skins with blue lights and went, "oh, sorry, we can't make them red or green to match the skins, it's not possible." I cannot figure out why rioters are saying they can't make the ingame like this.

Probably tech limitations on particle effects. Since that's generally where this issue comes up.

EROTIC RAID BOSS1 votes

hi do you know what shading is? or like, shadows or low light?

The splash is GORGEOUS and it's definitely a saving grace for this skin. But why in the world does the in game not match it AT ALL? They're almost completely different. What's the deal, Riot?

EROTIC RAID BOSS1 votes

lmao they look exactly the same

Then you haven't looked at it closely enough.

The character model is actually extremely close to what is shown here... However, the splash art uses much more sombre tones to reflect YorickYorick's personality, whereas the in-game model is brighter and designed to adhere to the more cartoon-y art style of the actual game, as well as the other Archlight skins.

The helmet, face, and beard are entirely different. The cloth on his lower torso is also entirely different. Everything about this splash is different.

Camulos1 votes

To me, there isn't that much of a difference that it's worth noticing, I think this is likely just a matter of taste.

I'm really digging the new Royal Mord splash art!

Lol the pose and shading share some resemblance to Diana's normal splash

The splash art looks like a reference to Velstadt from Dark Souls 2. Really cool!

An aged warrior using his power to call forth spirits asking a long dead queen to join him in battle one more time. That what I see in this splash art. I'm glad that Yorick gets this new skin that while altering his look a bunch still feels like him.

[slayer-pantheon-thumbs] Nice job art team.
