Does that mean that Taric (since he is essentially confirmed Targonian by this point) will be part of this space-Targonian faction, since he was an alien before anyways?

may be a kind of antagonist to the Targonians, since he sort of represents the Earth, rather than the Heavens. He could even be the character that caused the conflict between the Targonians which allowed Aurelion Sol to rebel.
Also, the Targonians with access to space travel seem to be the Targonian gods, rather than the citizens, or the mortals whom the gods possess and control , if that matters.
