Is Orianna the Gray Lady?

In Camille's story, "the weakest heart," a deity was mentioned in piltover worshipped by the glorious evolved. Described as gray, female, and mechanical, it's a little vague, but Orianna is from piltover AND she's been due for new lore since the league of legends/summoner retcon. Not to mention the upcoming piltover event. What are your thoughts?

Im confused because camilie has a short story in which she captures a pair of thugs, kills one and invites the other one of tea....how is the related to the post?

The short story is called Tea with the grey lady.

But the church didn't call her holy in another of the short stories but the priest's recognized her and people of the church wanted to cling onto her for her nearly complete cyborg body.

But on the other hand Orianna is grey and is completely machine which ought to be holy according to the church in those short stories which causes the confusion.

I think Camille might be considered the Gray Lady on the Zaun streets because of her heavy augmentations and because of how she operates.

Though I agree that it is very confusing since judging from Evelyn's color text, she would have had that name for a while.

Right? It makes one wonder what in the world her connection to the church is and how Viktor and Orianna fit into that mess.

My view on the matter is:

  • The Gray Lady is a sort of "Holy Mother" of the hextech augmentation cult, think about the christian Madonna.
  • Camille is in no way the Gray Lady, some children or superstitious ppl might call her that becuase of her being the most clever assassin in the city.
  • Orianna is not the Gray Lady (unless misproven by her incoming Lore but I really don't think so, the cult seem to be much older that her plausible "birth").
  • Camille is surely interesting for zaunites augmented because her augmentation is nearly complete (only the head and probably her neck are missing) and refined while theirs are junk-like, Orianna (again, incoming Lore might change that) isn't an augmented human but a robot with a human conscience in it.

  1. Agreed, but I think it is a given title to a living being, not like Nagakaboros, seeing as it is a Cult.
  2. Agreed, it would be too cut and dry, not to mention the priest would have a holy fit if that were the case.
  3. Here is where it is a little choppy. See Orianna was created in the image of a Piltoveran worker's daughter, who loved the league of legends and wished to be a champion. She died. Orianna was her replacement. There are two things riot is very careful to do with lore reworks, that is retcon any mention of summoners, IoW, and the league of legends; the other is to link champions through their lore. You see it in the shurima lore rework, where suddenly Nasus, renekton, azir, xerath, sivir and taliyah are all connected. You also see it in the shadow isles rework, where Mordekaiser is remade from a heavy metal icon to a more ghost/undead based lich king. You see elise tie in with the shadow isles through Vilemaw. I believe Riot is moving away from pocket dimension characters that can be summoned to single plane through the IoW, and instead making legendary existences that actually have interactions with one another. Hence Orianna's new lore will definitely link to other champions. What better way than to make her a fully augmented being. Not through Viktor's work, but through a Piltoveran builder. It would not only keep Orianna's mechanical roots, but also make her more depth as a former person. (Possibly with no heart whatsoever, due to full augmentation-unlike Camille, who still has her humane moments.) Most of the voice lines wouldn't need changing either, if this were the case, seeing as she would still be as straightforward, cold, and analytical as she was previous. Somewhere in the Camille/Piltover lore update, it talks about how Zaun attempts to emulate Piltover's prosperity in its own twisted way. They are situated nigh on top of one another after all. Here is where Viktor ties in. Seeing the effect of a fully augmented human, Viktor becomes obsessed with Orianna and augmentation. He attempts to reverse engineer it using Hex-core tech that we've seen being used by Camille. He tests out protoypes on people, and while they are rudimentary, they are successful. This causes the people to see him as a prophet-like figure, (while he dislikes them/doesn't care for them). HE'S obsessed with HIS research, and works to bring himself to Orianna's level, and then beyond. Seeing as Orianna may have been the inspiration for Viktor, these 'cultists' venerate her as their deity, as she was the one first true augmentation. Orianna may have not been created for the Glorious Evolution, but now, she may have well inspired it. There is no mention of how old Orianna (the robot) is. While the human base might be young, Camille, for instance, does not age, (She is protrayed as young/immortal while her brother ages) so it makes sense that Orianna could be as old as needed. Finally, Evelynn once mentioned a Gray LAdy, which means she may be an assassin as well. Here it is a little confusing, Surely Camille is more Assassin than Orianna? Wrong, Camille is an enforcer, she upholds some values and tears down others. Traditional Assassins have no concept of honor, they get the job done. The best have no emotion as well to cloud their judgement. Who better than a completely augmented being? In game at least, Orianna's words are never passionate or playful. It's always the cold, steely focused tone that only an emotionless body can give. But hey, it's just a theory-A LORE THEORY! Thanks for reading.

....MatPat don't sue me.

  1. Agreed, they are very taken with her augmentations.

It looks more like the gray lady is some sort of god, similar to nagakeborous.
