Small rant on how Skins are done

Saw that Aurelion sol is getting a skill and it looks awesome but it reminded me that I don't like how the current way of selecting skins are done. The way skins are done now I feel allows for bias. The way skins are done now, I believe, is they wait till they have a stroke of genius and this leads to champs like Ahri, Lux and Annie with a closet full of skins and others going for yeaaaaaarrrsss with just one or two. I think it's unfair and justifiable to players who love the champs with one or two skins to have to sit and see champs with ten+ skins get more and the riot then tells you wait/ soon tm. Worse it hurts more to know if you love an unpopular champ (Skarner Urgot Yorick ) that you will never get consistent skins, and then seeing how easy it is for riot to get motivated with ideas for skins for the more popular champs. (Kled has been released since 2016 and Zoe has already gotten a new skin.

I dislike the arguement for how skins are done. I think some champs need a temporary skin "lockout" based on certain criteria. I mean the time and effort they are putting in the 13th annie skin could be used on at least the ideation process or brain storming for the next Urgot ,Ivern or even Zilean skin.

Some characters are just easier to make skins for and popular champs are more guaranteed money. It might suck for fanboys/girls of certain champs, but it's cold business logic at play.

This has always been an issue for me with the way they handle new skins.

Any art team member can just favor a certain few champs or styles of champs and just always bring up more ideas for them. People are then left with very limited options if their champ doesn't interest Riot's art team.

Aatrox' skins are few and not very..... impactful. I'm not saying they're bad or shitty. They just don't have that umph where you're stoked about playing with the skin. The whole mecha line is... alright I guess. Some of the animations are cool but they lack a sharpness to them which, say for instance, the project skins have. Project skins are just so badass and on point and when you play with a mecha skin it almost feels like its a softer, weaker version of them.

I get that the mecha skins are supposed to be more kiddish and transformer-ish but I've still been waiting for a badass skin for Aatrox. I mean a hammerhead skin? Eh. Again, im not trashing the art or the skin itself it's just that, even the artists / riot must know, these skins do not bring the hype. The hammerhead skin was almost a means to an end that was supposed to sorta be a group support skin line for the bilgewater event (after Gangplank got reworked). Which is reflected in its price to be fair.

Also, I undertand that vu reworked champs are not going to get very many because they technically have had their original skins rewokred as "new" skins. So, I am aware that I'll probably not see another Aatrox skin for at least another year or so.

tl;dr - Need badass Aatrox skin pls.

Its unfair I have to agree I believe that everyone would agree but the money is with those champions like Lux, Ahri etc.

Skarner is actually high on the VGU-list,so at this point Riot ignores him on purpose.

In general they did a lot of single release skins this year for champions who didn't get a skin in a long time(Jax Gragas JarvanIV Illaoi Rumble MonkeyKing Evelynn & Chogath, even though cho'gaths skin was due to a charity-event),so its appearant that riot looked at the roster and saw who went ignored for too long.

And we know that Heimer and Urgot(and I think Amumu too?not sure about him) have skins in the work as well.

So I really hope that they'll continue with this, that they'll keep an eye on champs who went without a skin for a long time and will regularly make some skins for them.I don't expect every champ to get an equal amount of skins all of a sudden(though that would be optimal in my opinion),just that they even it out a bit more.

Mind you, there are some champs that dont get skins based on being slated for a rework. But stuff that well off, or even past, the two year mark for their rework need skins. Cause stuff like Skarner and Zilean havent gotten a skin in years, and even if they are getting more it wont be until after they get a rework. I am glad Urgot is finally getting a skin, and that Yorick did too, but they need to ramp up production for these guys. Like, you look at Urgot, this guy has two 520 skins, and a 1350 skin. 520 skins havent been produced in years. It is a shame that these less unpopular champs like Urgot Yorick Ivern Nautilus and Fiddlesticks dont get skins frequently at all. Especially when we get stuff like Master Yi who got 2 skins within 3 months of eachother last year. But the fact that stuff like Gangplank Caitlyn and Zoe are already getting new skins is absurd. Caitlyn and Gangplank both got Pulsefire and Dreadnova, respectively, within about the last year or so. Zoe was released earlier this year, and she is already getting a skin. You have stuff like Taliyah, Kled, Camille and Ivern who havent gotten a skin since release. A.Sol is just getting one now, Taliyah came out just over a month after him. You are completely right though. The skins selection system is for sure a little botched, when we are getting stuff that got skins or got released within a year of each other. I can feel where you are coming from too since alot of my favorite champions are some of the most unpopular chanpions like Urgot, Fiddlesticks, Nautilus. I really do hope riot sees this and can give any reasoning for this, or at least some confirmation that some of these unpopular champd will get some love with skins more than just 1 per 3-6 years.

To me it's like they do cater to the champion fans and players but then they sort of side-step in an 'extra' series of skins that include a champ who already has a plethora of skins. But you know it's okay since they made skins for the fans and unpopular champs so JUUUUUST IN CASE the unpopular skin doesn't sell well they have a bucket of pretty skins for the popular champion to make their money back.
