Why do Demacian Mages have an affinity for Light magic?

So I noticed of the 3 full Demacian mages that we know of Garen Lux Lucian they all have a strong affinity for light magic, why is it that an anti-magic society produces mages like this?

Now before someone says Lucian isn't a mage, I say how do you explain him firing his "pistols", which canonically have no trigger and requires the user to use energy from their own body to fire it? Sounds alot like some sort of magic focusing device to me like Lux's wand, the user is already a mage they just need something to help them focus their power. These guns also have multiple firing modes from single shot to full auto to even painting pictures of faces all without any sort of switches as well Plus he also has resistance to mind control/alteration, and super human reflexes/speed.

As for Garen, the dude summons a giant sword made of light from the sky what else needs to be said...

You are assuming what Lucian and Garen are using is light, but it could very well be anti magic. Gold energy could be what anti magic manifested looks like, where anti magic is just another type of magic.

Also Garen's ult is not canon in the lore, as far as we know he is not a mage.

What Lucian and Garen are using is anti-magic from Petricite. Lux is the only mage in the entire Demacia.

Lux is the only confirmed Mage here, but I'll humour you.

Say Garen and Lucian actually wield Light Magic.

I'm guessing it's because Light Magic isn't known to be that destructive to the environment around you, compared to something like The World Runes, and it isn't known to have any corruptive influence on the user like Void Magic has.

Demacia would probably sooner sanction the usage of quote on quote "safe to use" magic than they'd sanction the usage of corruptive and destructive magic.

Plus, Demacians have an affinity for purging and smiting and Light Magic seems to be the ultimate tool for that purpose.

Probably just a genetic thing (especially with Garen and Lux being siblings), I would assume more than just light mages can come from that area, but light mages are more common.

In-game isn't canon, especially if the champion in question is very old. Gragas doesn't have infinite barrels, Ashe can't shoot a frozen bird, Garen can't summon a giant sword from the sky. You said it yourself: "Ignorant of the very magic you carry into battle. How Demacian" Garen may have magic based on that statement, but that statement can also be interpreted otherwise. Either way, if he'd be able to use his ult in-lore, he'd be aware of it, which directly contradicts Swain's statement. So if Garen has magic, we don't know what he can do. However, magic seems to be passed down genetically to some degree, so light magic wouldn't be too surprising.

In Lucian's case I think it's the guns that are magical, not him. They are powerful artifacts made for a single purpose. Maybe the lack of a trigger is a safety mechanism to prevent people without proper training or purpose to use them. Him being able to fire single slow shots or multiple fast shots is not really something that would require Lucian to have magic, similarly being able to draw a face neither requires magic, nor is it canon.

requires the user to use energy from their own body to fire it? Plus he also has resistance to mind control/alteration

Can you provide sources for that? I've never heard of that.

Lucians guns are magical,Lucian himself has no magic abilities.

And Garen and Lux are siblings,so it might be genetic.
