Kayle's visual design missed the mark

It missed the mark. I get that this Dawnbringer Riven 2 will be perceived as being sold more - I don't know if it truly will sell more than a knight in full armour who doesn't emphasize her feminine features.

But what I do know that this truly was one of the most important characteristics of original Kayle. She was a stoic angel of justice, with big wings, hiding her features behind a mask at all times, slashing judgment with righteous fury. Her distinctive lack of sexual tones (in classic skin) was a deliberate contrast to her fallen sister.

Now? Her identity in the champion rooster is gone. More wings on ult? New Swain and new Aatrox say hi. But at least now you can see her belly button through her spandex.

Seriously, I know the art team at Riot can do better than this. This is a sellout. It really hurts. Riot, can you pour in more resources, to change new Kayle's model and add much more armour? Please. This is simply unfair.

Yeah this is blatant fan service. The one champion that's supposed to be fully armored and not in a latex suit and they did it anyway while being fully aware of communities expectations.

It's a really, really uninformed and lame move. Nobody wanted this, nobody who plays Kayle plays her for horny purposes. We love that stoic angel ideal you brought up; this visual rework of her model is just gutting that with a rusty knife.

It was a given Riot will fuck it up, that's pretty typical of reworks.

I mean, why the fuck does she wear a skin tight suit and no armor on abdomen?

Kayle's new boring cookie cutter design is really disappointing. Riot chose to take away everything that made kayle unique, her practical armor, her androgynous look, her own pose on the splash art... and they replaced everything with just like I said, a boring, same face, same body as every other skin tight suited woman in this game.

I don't understand how they made her face so hideous while making her body so much more sexualised. This is like 2 things that we pretty much all didn't want for her model to be.

Frankly what bothers me is her head and especially hairstyle. How the hell do you fit that weird mess in a helmet? Why couldn’t she get a quality hairstyle like Morgana rather than semi-dreadlocks?

Well I personally like it and given the like/dislike ratio on the teaser, it will definitely sell much more than you think it will. With good reason, she looks good, fit, and healthy in terms of her physique. Simple as that. Perfection will always outweigh insecurity.

Adding more armor will not make her any less shapely, just so you know. Instead of pointlessly having extra heavy armor on when she's not even a juggernaut or a tank. She was chosen to put on a light armor merged with a body suit. Don't see where the problem in that is.

"Its clearly fan servicing" and so it was, where's the harm in that? If 50k people on youtube seems to like that and 500 to dislike it. I literally can confirm that riot is deeply in touch with the community, and I'm thankful to that.

Kayle is one of my favorite champs, along with Illaoi and this just seems meh to me. As a female player, I loved her original work, she seemed strong without being just another female fighter that has next to nothing in regards to armor. So she has plates on her legs and arms, but her vulnerable torso gets a leotard? She never came across to me as a very feminine champ and I liked that. Seemed more ideal for her. If they keep this style as is, Im curious what the other skins will look like with a rework. I have most all of them besides, Silver and Penta, and Id really hate to see those fluffed up too. :/

I like the new Kayle design, but that doesn't mean it fits her character. I could see this being a skin (Ascended Kayle) but she should always be a champion that new players confuse for a man

If this was a new champion, i'd be a little concerned at the similarities to other champions, as exposed by this post, but as a whole she looks cool. but since it's Kayle we're talking about, this kinda breaks her theme...

Kinda agree with you, she kinda reminds me of bullet angel Kai'sa, but fancy and I love that skin. One thing that bothers me not that much, but non the less is that her color scheme is missing one of her primary colors - red and it been replaced by purple. I thing it would have looked better if she keeps the red, instead going for a loyal guard or color scheme that looks like a victorious skin. And what are those circles in their splash art, it looks so strange, I want a completed art. I hope those circles are just for promotional art and not their "finished" splash arts.

''gameplay clarity'' haha as if that means anything, if gameplay clartiy was a thing zed wouldn't be so armored nor would ashe and sivir be in their skins, plenty of contradicting examples, it's like with kai`sai ''we gave her cleavage and the deepest v-line ever so people can tell she's human'' ignoring the fact that even without that she still looks 100% completely human, they just invent a ''problem'' so they cant put their ''solution'' on it
