The lore in this game is boring compared to other lore(s)
Saw Star Wars 9, and I am in the camp that liked it. The Legends section of the Star Wars lore brings a lot of detail into almost everything. The books are well written, and I appreciated the Death Troopers book. Its lore is good for creativity due to its setting in space.
F.E.A.R despite not being continued for a long time has an interesting concept of horror and FPS. It experiments with paranormal anomalies that interact with military/special forces operations. Its kinda like the SCP mythos.
Final Fantasy changes direction every game. FF7 is essentially a conflict against corporates polluting Gaea and eco-freedom fighters. Although it is a Final Fantasy title, therefore using some re-used concepts from past games, its modern setting was new.
Half-Life 2 experimented by making a game that was like many dystopian/political novels such as 1984. It had small bits of puzzles, interesting level design, and environments.
Metal Gear (specifically Sons of Liberty) had controversial elements, although not dabbling too realistically with them. Its story reflects history as a basis for its plot development. More interestingly, Guns of the Patriots depicts the usage of PMCs as a form of profit and a new way of controlling soldiers via nano-machines.
Anyway, you get it. I'm not bashing on its concepts like the Darkin, locations, factions, etc. All I'm saying is that we are not getting enough at a time.
