Disproving Taric + Ezreal

Alright, so the + joke (wait, it's actually a fanship?) has been floating around forever, but is it canon?

Heh, no.

Well first of all, let me list the reasons why people actually think it's a good ship:

Both have longish hair.
Debonair Ezreal can be seen in Armor of the Fifth Age Taric's splash art... But so can Riot Girl Tristana, Arcade Miss Fortune, and DJ Sona.

Ok, now I'll list the reasons why it's actually not canon:

Ezreal is actually dating Lux.
Taric is likely straight as well.

I know what you're thinking "WAAAT! No, thats crazy ez x tarc 4 lyfe." or maybe you're typing a rage comment right now, anyway, let me prove why.

First of all, in the article An Ancient Mystery in Runeterra about the reveal of Aatrox, you can see a picture of Lux on Ezreal's desk, when asked about it, he said he "didn't mean to leave that out". Later, a full picture was recovered, it can be seen here.

Secondly, in Ezreal's page you can scroll to the bottom and view his list of friends next to his lore. While there are people who he'd naturally be friends with like other Piltover champions, Lux is also on that list... For some reason. Additionally, in Lux's page you can see Ezreal on her list of friends, of course.

Lastly, if Ezreal spawns on the upper side of the map, he can hear a few unique quotes by Lyte, the red team shopkeeper. One of which is: "Is it true what I've heard about, um, you and Miss Crownguard, hm?" The Crownguards are a Demacian noble family, of which, champions Garen and his sister Lux are from. And if Lyte was really talking about Taric, I doubt he'd refer to him as "miss".

And speaking of Taric...

He has two unique taunts for an allied Diana, one of which is "Who could have guessed, the aspect of the moon would be so beautiful?" Additionally, he agrees with Diana's view that the Solari are misguided.

Also, while if he really was gay, he'd probably flirt with muscled men, but instead he blatantly says that everyone hates Pantheon.

And despite the fact that skins aren't really canon, the personalities of the champions generally remain the same. For instance, in the teaser article for the new Pool Party skins, Taric winks at Miss Fortune. Not really subtle, but a hint, nonetheless.

So yeah, while sometimes the joke is kind of funny (albeit really old) it's not canon.

Just because something isn't canon, doesnt mean it can't become something actual later on, plus you are also hitting a stereotype that a 'gay' person would only be attracted to 'buff guys', but that is not something i would like to turn into a philosophical argument. The point is, that plenty of long running things whether they be a book series, show series or video game can easily be influenced by the audience that makes use of these forms of entertainment, which can lead to the ones creating the shows/games/books to adopt popular ideas and either subtly add them in whether its a background change or a character's behavior or progression thru the 'lore' that makes them.

Obviously the joke with EzrealXTaric is pretty much as it stands, a joke. If they wanted to make it somewhat canon, it could just be they are the equilvency to two good friends who could share any bad things that is currently going on in their life. Just like how the joke with Graves having no Cigar and Teemo is Satan incarnate because his kit works as a tactical stealth operative who can't be letting himself get seen without subduing the enemy before they start a stir. Which definitely makes a good example considering his kit is made to stop a rusher (auto attack champion) with blind, Toxic darts to make them guaranteed to die even i they manage to get away from Teemo and a useful dangerous natural resource to setup cost effective land mines to take a target down without them noticing or figuring it out before its too late for them.

Plus if i recall the Ezreal and Lux in a relationship tends to have a joke that Lux stalks Ezreal to it could be joked she might as well be Yandere level if that's the case.

It is pretty obivious for lore readers though. It is not like we don't know that. Only lore wise naive people say Taric x Ezreal is possible.

Thanks to Riot for destroying the most offensive popular ship in the lore. Better don't have LGBT champions if we're going to make this stereotype incarnate canon.

Ezreal is not dating lux, lux likes ezreal and ezreal likes lux but that's about it. None of them have made a move yet.

Second... Taric loves beautiful things and Ezreal's baby face would fit into that category. Muscular is not beautiful, delicate things are.

So the Ship/joke goes like this, Taric likes Exreal, Ezreal likes Lux(and viceversa), so Taric hits on Ezreal which causes a Panic reaction on Ezreal, which makes Taric flirt even more (he is playing hard to get) until eventually wins Ezreal over.
