Did someone say tease?

Can I just say that The Weakest Heart story was FREAKING FANTASTIC?!?!?

Forget what people are saying about Viktor, this has to be one of the most well written stories you guys have put out to date!

Please give a massive high five to whoever wrote this for me, please!

We're very glad you liked it! Thermal Kitten and the rest of the teams involved in Camille and the Piltover content have been looking forward to getting it to players for a while. I know she's been reading the boards (as you can see from her thread) so I know she appreciates the kind words.

Mordekaiser Hue?

RiotLeaoC7 votes

I'm Brazilian, so it's relevant in that sense.

Btw, I'm a big fan of your posts :) Shadow Isles / Morde PLUS Metal fan? You're one of mine!

Malicious Metal5 votes

Well, if it weren't for YOU guys at Riot we wouldn't even be here discussing Undead Revenants and how many parallels there are between said Iron Tyrant and Metal Music! ^^

So, I think this makes us https://yt3.ggpht.com/-B9olP9QwO7k/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/W_Ghu2sCW04/s900-c-k-no-mo-rj-c0xffffff/photo.jpg

AWESOME.

(Some of my fondest gaming memories include shenanigans in Sons of Liberty).

I imagine that's the sound that goes off internally when Sharjo/Tesla/Ralanr/MaliciousM/everyone here find something new. :}

Malicious Metal7 votes

I can't wait for some ass-kickin', bubblegum chewin' punk-y Vi lore!

Ralanr3 votes

Yes, yes, and more yes! I need to read about some face punching!

Over Innsmouth2 votes

Camille is already a million times better than Vi will ever be.

After reading that, mine is the weakest heart.

Malicious Metal5 votes

Nope, I take someone with an actual conscience and fun personality over a cold hearted bitc...woman any day.

Over Innsmouth1 votes

Did...Did you not read Tea with the Gray Lady and The Weakest Heart?

Ralanr2 votes

I did and it was very enjoyable. It was nice to see the internal struggles of Camille.

Now I want to see Vi kick ass, take names, and confront some inner demons.

I will blast punk music when reading it.

#VIKTOR!

It's been four years since his last appearance in lore!

Ralanr2 votes

Has Viktor become the head of a religion?!

And was Evelyn's comment on the Grey Lady Sarcasm?

Viktorious Sayph3 votes

“The Glorious Evolved are fervent believers. They do not take kindly to the unaugmented.”

Watching over him was an imposing figure outlined in cold lead and frosted glass. The Gray Lady, holy patron of the Glorious Evolved. The stained-glass window glowed from within, lit eerily by the arc lamps outside. I approached the shrine. There were jars of organs. Single eyeballs floated like pickled eggs. Bundled offerings were wrapped in linen, some of it fine, some of it oily and ragged. A few flies buzzed among the discarded pieces of the congregation. One of the wrapped bundles moved. A little plague rat poked its nose out shortly after, daring me to take away its prize. The gauze of the newfound treasure caught on the edge, and the rest of the bundle tumbled away, revealing a desiccated finger. The rat scampered down, but Brother Zavier shooed it back into the darkness.

The Glorious Evolved celebrated the old Zaunite tradition of sacrificing something personal for Progress Day in the hopes the next iteration of invention would be better. It was a practice that could be traced back to the old days of the city, when the people of Zaun had to face rebuilding their lives after the devastation of “the incident.” The wealth and growth of Piltover on top of those scarred ruins served as evidence to many that the tradition had merit.

What the heck man

We all know what is "Glorious Evolved"

A cult revolving around a ridiculous deity instead of around science, where people as mindless drones place their severed bodyparts and organs to rot on the altar?

This is horrible.

A Superb Villain4 votes

Dammit, 333lom! I have not gotten that far, I've barely just begun!

But please, feel free to begin rioting; I'll make my own judgement soon enough when I know what Riot has done.

I'm afraid, Viktor's story is not even out yet, but Riot missed the point of his character by SO MUCH

Like, the acolytes are literally copies of the Techpriests from WH40K

I'm afraid, Viktor's story is not even out yet, but Riot missed the point of his character by SO MUCH

You are right to fear, and I share your trepidation. However, while I am resigned to confronting Riot's poor decision, there may yet be hope. Viktor's narrative has always involved people stealing something from him and twisting it to their own ends, such as Urgot. I noticed there is no mention of Viktor anywhere despite the fact that his name would be first and foremost associated with the Glorious Evolution.

It may be possible that Viktor's concept of The Glorious Evolution has been perverted by the population at large within Zaun, especially by the poor and desperate. I can easily see Viktor providing augmentations to those who willingly volunteer to be altered, more than likely not improving their life, while also trying to spread the word that augmentations can not only help but enhance someone's existence. Viktor educates, lectures, but people pick up on the wrong idea, they take what should be objective fact and twist it into salvation.

Once more, the world spoils Viktor's vision.

Like, the acolytes are literally copies of the Techpriests from WH40K

I'm not surprised, considering one of member of the narrative team is known for his works in the 40K universe. Unfortunate, I suppose, though I've always suspected something of the sort from the moment Viktor was joined by acolytes. I never thought it was so extreme though.

333lom3 votes

Your idea is my lifeline, but I highly doubt it. When was lore that complicated and elaborate. Here's a reason for my doubt:

I'm getting a feeling that Viktor might get turned into something like the God Emperor. See? This is horrible.

A Superb Villain4 votes

Then we have an obligation to present Riot with their mistake as much as necessary until they break and rectify the issue.

Malicious Metal4 votes

I personally don't see your problem here. Now, now, before you get your pitchforks hear me out.

The Glorious Evolution, to the uneducated mind, which mind you most of Zaun's population consists of, can seem as a MIRACLE. Replacing the weak flesh, riding you of your shortcomings, overcome the limitations of your body.

For them Viktor and the glorious evolutions are their SALVATION, Their Savior! It already is an established Zaunite tradition to offer something in order to pray for greater progress. Them just offering the parts they have shed for the glorious evolution isn't as macabre and fanatic as it may seem.

I see it as yet again something that outsiders may frown upon, yet if you think about it is just as logical as offering some animal carcass. It's sacred, it's symbolic, it's something the COMMON people can rally behind.

Viktor is ABOVE the aristocracy, he accepts the common folk under his wing, be it poor, deformed or anything in between, you're all equal under the glorious evolution. I don't see it as something that ruins his character, it just characterizes his followers.

ElectroScalar2 votes

The "Sacrifice" to the Gray Lady....

No, this whole thing just feels wrong. It sounds wrong. Viktor educates people, he isn't a god or a priest.

Malicious Metal6 votes

Now, I'm a huge Viktor fan but NEVER did he show any interest in educating people. He wants to Herald the glorious evolution, because he sees it as humanity's next step. Whatever his acolytes do with that information is up to them, maybe they seek meaning that Viktor can't give them?

Religion is a powerful tool, especially for those living in the dump that is Zaun. Something that brings them comfort, that brings answers to their questions.

333lom2 votes

Viktor leading a church strays his character too much from the original scientist who wants to be recognized in the scientific community.

Malicious Metal3 votes

Do we even know HE leads it? Maybe it's just the religion his followers created to rally behind an idea, an image they can all understand? Not everyone sees the science behind it.

333lom3 votes

Such an image, regardless of whether he leads it or not, is bad. It's not the case that the only thing that can be bad is if he was a cartoon-villain. Him being turned into a fanatic that believes in some machine gods is also very bad. Why? We wanted Nikola Tesla of LoL. We got.. a ripoff of Techpriests from Warhammer 40k.

Viktorious Sayph3 votes

I don't get why riot has some kind of grudge against viktor (no skins, fkd up lore, pbe changes)

meh it sounds a bit like the Adeptus Mechanicus from 40K, just a little less...brainless...

Based on the scroll thing at the top of the screen, will eventually scroll down into Zaun.

A Superb Villain5 votes

Thematic cohesion, since Zaun is, physically though not metaphorically, beneath Piltover.

Sraeg20132 votes

Wasn't Zaun originally like on the opposite side of a lake Piltover was?

Originally, yes.
