The next Ascended champion...

Something that had been on my mind since the Darkin update and I was reminded of by BestGamin65's post were the Ascended Host of Shurima.

We learnt that although the Ascended Host's numbers were whittled down by both the battle for Icathia and the Darkin War, as well as the subsequent imprisonment and slaying of the Darkin, there were some Ascended that were spared of this punishment. Nasus is an example of an Ascended that was spared, I would like to know of other Ascended that survived the Darkin War.

I personally would like to see another Ascended from this ancient time added to the Shuriman roster, since went into self imposed exile, was trapped with and was only revived recently. This new Ascended could provide a point of view of an Ascended that fought against their brethren to protect the mortal races that couldn't defend themselves, in addition to their own achievements as an Ascended warrior. I personally hope they would be based on Khepri the egytian scarab god, although we now know that the Ascended are not limited to being based on egytian gods.

Perhaps you would prefer that the next Ascended is a champion that is chosen by (or perhaps by even) and undergoes the Ascension ritual in the present timeline, opposed to one from ancient Shurima? What animal would you want the next Ascended to be based on? Who's side would you like to see them on in the Shuriman civil war? What are your thoughts?

PS: Riot please give us skins that show (Rhaast) and 's (1820 RP for a VO without Val and Kai) Ascended forms!!

How are people so certain Sun Disc is still capable of making god-warriors? Aspects and the Ascended are not the best friends forever anymore you know. They regret giving mortals such power. It is highly possible they shutted down the path through Sun Disc. And even if it isn't the case, Azir sees the past through sands of Shurima. He probably knows the Great Darkin War and all. He wouldn't dare to create potential enemies, even more since after traumatic betray of Xerath, doubt any courage left for him to trust and have a decision like this.

I'd really like to see a cat headed ascended loosely based on Bastet! It would be a nice change if the next ascended was a lady and also cats are neat. That's my logic here.

Well the thing is, there needs to be an explanation for what the ascended has been doing for thousands of years and ascended are usually very prominent and don't go unnoticed. I've actually though a lot about a new ascended champion and here are some possibilities I've come up with:

A) Azir or Xerath ascend a modern day Shuriman like you listed. B) A cool concept I thought of is a hippo-ascended river keeper. He spent all his time since ancient Shurima guarding the river from anyone who came to seek out whatever he is protecting. He'd be a loner type and comical and humorous. Spending thousands of years swimming around in a river grazing he would be a fat and very angry boi. C) Setaka. This one is related to the void. The void manage to operate her ascended body and manipulate the celestial energy within it to strengthen their grasp on the physical plane. She'd be pretty much like Malzahar, no longer herself. She would still be dead, but her ascended powers are now in the hands of the void.

Pre-blood magic Darkin is an almost definite skin line that will be released for the champions.

While not technically a living, breathing Ascended, I really want them to bring Setaka into the game. In "Where Icathia Once Stood," they very clearly described Setaka being cocooned by the Void rather than outright killed or devoured by it. Additionally, The Eye in the Abyss shows us that the Void can turn even a standard Iceborn into a highly effective hunter, so who knows how powerful a corrupted Ascended could be. Ascended are already nearly the most powerful creatures on Runeterra, but that extreme strength and durability plus the magical component gifted by Targon all being twisted by the Void would truly create a weapon of mass destruction.

Plus, we haven't had a monster character in a long time. I know Riot doesn't make them as often because they aren't as popular to play as, but it's long past due. The corrupted corpse of an Ascended would just be so damn cool.

To get back to the OP question though, I think I would rather have an Ancient Ascended. At the current point in the timeline I doubt new ones could be made, Targon probably learned their lesson about giving mortals too much of their power plus Xerath stealing the power or turning the new Ascended would be devastating for the region.
