A Plan

Alright, we all know that the lore for League of Legends has been killed, beaten, burned in a fire, reshaped, and killed again. I never was one for learning the lore of games I played, but it's broken the hearts of many die-hard League "historians" in the community. So, I'd like to make a proposition. I've always been interested in creative writing, so if this post gets sufficient approval, I will personally start shaping the lore, bit by bit. I'll start with the great war, and work my way towards explaining how the arenas of the League came to be and why they exist today. I won't do the lore of champions until later down the road. I just want to set a foundation for WHY the League of Legends exists. I will also try as hard as I can to preserve the traditional history of League.

On that note, if anyone has tidbits of information on Valoran's history, please let me know down below. Anything I can get here will save me a lot of time spent researching. Also, if you have any suggestions on certain champion interactions (for example, Yi and Wukong or Leona and Diana), let me know down below and I'll mark them in my notes.

Finally, if you want to lend a hand in all this, I will gladly accept your help. Just let me know down below. However, you have to be coordinated and responsible. I don't want this to be like a high school project where one person slacks off and makes the whole project look bad.

To be very honest, I think you should just start writing and posting it somewhere while constantly reminding people about it. That way if your writing is the true gold, you'll be recognized in no time ;)

I would start with Aatroxes lore, in it we learn that the earliest recorded conflict in Runeterra was between the Protectorate and Magelords.

_"Over time, the Magelords won a series of crushing victories, leaving them on the brink of obliterating their sworn enemy forever. On the day of their final confrontation, the Protectorate army found themselves outnumbered, exhausted, and poorly equipped. They braced for inevitable defeat.

Just when all hope seemed lost, Aatrox appeared among the ranks of the Protectorate. With but a few words, he urged the soldiers to fight to the last before throwing himself into battle. His presence inspired the desperate warriors. At first, they could only watch in awe as this unknown hero cleaved through their enemies, his body and blade moving in unison as if one being. Soon, the warriors found themselves imbued with a potent thirst for battle. They followed Aatrox into the fray, each fighting with the furious strength of ten until they had won a most unlikely victory.

Aatrox vanished after that battle, but the Protectorate army's newfound fury did not. Their surprising triumph led to many more until they were able to finally return home victorious. "_

Now why would Aatroxes lore be significant to the whole plot of the world? Well, besides being the first recorded conflict, it also has factions that heavily mirror Demacia and Noxus. Also, they presence on summoners Rift is heavily implied due to the two opposing bases having appearances that would be associated with the Protectorate and Magelords. Not only that but a stone wall carving feature both sides has a small stone carving of Aatrox just left of it.

Now we know the Magelords lost the whole war, but they were not fully defeated. The remnants of the Magelords lived on in many other cultures such as the Icathians and the Shadow Islanders, as well as Noxus, with The Black Rose organization having strong Magelord intents in mind.

I believe that the whole history of this world has centered around the free or controlled use of magic and that the opposing sides had fought for their ideals for many generations, this what we would call The Rune Wars.

Demacia and Noxus have strong influences of the Protectorate and Magelord sides. Demacia is a nation valuing structure, strength and control. Noxus is a nation that values power, freedom and chaos. Their influence has shaped city states like Piltover and Zaun.

Until Riot gets their head on straight, just join the movement to write your own lore. Go for it!

Hey, this might be helpful.

It's a list of places and names mentioned in the JoJ and champ. judgements - so for now I guess most of them are valid? It might help you give an idea of some minor characters to throw in.

I really think you should get others involved in this. It could be something really awesome if more and more people could come together and create cool lore! Like, I've always wanted to expand upon the Morgana and Kayle lore.
