Keystones are not only a gameplay problem

There is also a thematic problem that bugs me since their release, the main offender being Thunderlord's. As you can see, it's visualised by a lightning from the sky - how the hell did Azir do that? I never knew he had a lightning powers? The same goes with Ahri , Akali , Anivia , Annie , Diana , Ekko , Elise and whoever else. Another example would be GotU and BoS (which is reworked now).

Personally for me it took away alot of the feeling from playing different champions and actually makes me feel they blend, especially those whose best keystone TLD is, those playstyles blend into "hit three abilities".

Edit: Why is everyone here complete generalist? Why would we need to apply this logic on everything? It's just my bit on the problematic if to keep Keystones or not, not HURR DURR LET'S DELETE EVERYTHING THAT'S NOT JUSTIFIED IN LORE... ő_Ö

If you argue like this, then we can delete summoner spells as well.

Or do you think that Garen can teleport to the enemy and set them ablaze by looking at them in the lore?

Buddy, the metagame of rune pages, summoner spells and keystones (previously masteries) is what makes League League. Ya take them out and you've got a worse Dota.

Well considering one mastery is called "Green Father's Gift", so y'know, Ivern, it can be inferred that some of the masteries are perhaps the blessings of various magical entities.
