After reading some Demacia/ Noxus posts and a wiki search, Darius might be smart after all.

It might come of as a surprise, especially that a Noxian champion, given the place he resides and the type of character he is both in-game and outside of it, is one of the most down to earth characters in all this Demacia vs Noxus. I mean, check the images bellow and you see that Darius is not all about fighting he seems to have some sort of intention, and if there is one thing that he seems to not lack is a brain (but in-game he does).

  • He wants to serve his empire through might, and unify it, also he has no specific bloodthirst to be sated like other champions.
  • He is concerned about the mysterious Black Rose and thus, suspicious of it.
  • He has no beef with Garen , but it looks like the later insists otherwise, but wouldn't mind to bash his head in.
  • He finds noblety a waste of time and a cover up for weakness.
  • He sees in Sion what might become of him after death in the hands of Noxus.

After all he doesn't seem like an total idiot that can only swing his axe around. Surprising i know.

I've always thought that Darius was an interesting character since he's REALLY strong (pro Noxian) and yet he supports Swain. That suggests that there was something rotten in Noxian society, potentially manifesting itself in the Darkwill family because that's where the buck stops. Especially with the idea that Darius is a smart individual, it implies that Swain actually might be GOOD for Noxian society.

Based on what I remember of Darius's lore, Swain pretty much owes his rule to Darius. That could have interesting implications if Riot chooses to explore it.

It only comes as a surprise to newer players who have only been exposed to the new classic darius splash art which makes him look like only a brute.

The old darius classic splash art spoke on many levels about darius.

Darius is definitely politically aware and intelligent, perhaps not so compared to brainiacs like swain, but enough for him to be a general and a pragmatist when confronted with issues.

Fun Fact: Noxian Might used to be called Bloodlust, but, due to the community commenting on the fact that Riot has stated that Darius isn't one for mindless killing and violence to cause violence, the name was up for change. I suggested Noxian Might and they chose Noxian Might as the name replacement.
