is the iron solari an actual thing in the lore? it'd be awesome if it could be, because look how amazing it looks it the iron solari leona skin splashart!

Skins are almost never canon and Iron Solari Leona's included in that as far as I know, but Locket of the Iron Solari indicates that at some point there was someone or something called the Iron Solari in the lore who bore the locket. I'd imagine they were a former leader of the Ra-horak a long arse time ago but I dunno.
Going by that Iron Solari Leona could be interpreted as Leona wearing the armour of that long dead Solari warrior, or as a depiction of how that person looked like in the lore when they were alive, but I honestly have no clue.
TL;DR there probably was an Iron Solari at some point but Iron Solari Leona ain't canon.
The Iron Solari was an old forum joke regarding a fake feud between IronStylus, the artist who drew Leona, and another Rioter I can't remember at the moment, who kept mocking her. "Teams" got formed, and the Iron Solari was one of them. It's probably about as canon as the "Zilean hates Volibear" thing, because they have about the same origin.
So probably not strictly canon.
