What characters outside of LOL do you want to be a champion/ be added into the game?

Just like the title, what characters do you want to see be added in LOL just for fun. I like to see yours lol.

If me, i want to add this character to the mix:

My fan lore if he'll be from runeterra:

Imagine him as a demacian super power soldier, working in the shadows. And only the higher ups in the demacian council only knows him/ even barely knows him with his powers to summon/use diff. swords/weapons/make everything to gold(making him extremely wealthy). With the council just contacting him when they needed him. Don't even question that he'll be close to be exiled because of his powers, but consider that the council needs him always that why they couldn't banish him. He may even be the leader/president of all the magic welder groups in demacia, one of those groups is the illuminators where kahina is the head leader of that group and lux being a member. He even has an armor to protect himself from magic, like the stones in demacia(anti-magic stones). imagine him make an armor out of that stone. He may even have a darkin in his weapon collection that he defeated. Or maybe he is even the true ruler of demacia but declined and pass it to the lightshields because he doesn't want to expose his magic. He even wants to create a community were humanity despises magic because of unknown reasons. Lastly, he may even be half immortal because of his pass lover cursing him in the past. Ex-lover is leblanc btw. The original leblanc and not the one we knew in the game/lore who just uses lebs image. Why leb? Just saw a theory the other day about real leb's origins is from demacia and her being exiled transferring her to noxus making her an evil witch. Having the two have some cliche love fiasco making gilgamesh turn his back on leb making her to be exiled. SO many mysteries revolving around this man.

Abilities :

AA: He is melee and uses his favorite sword, Allahu to attack.

Passive: +4 Magic Resist per level because of his anti-magic armor. and gets bonus gold for killing creeps because of his ability to create gold/giving himself wealth. The bonus stacks if creeps are killed within a period of time, after which the count is reset. Duration refreshes if a stack is made during the duration.

Base Bonus Gold 5 Bonus Gold Per Stack 5 Bonus Gold Cap 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 Stack Duration 30

Q: He opens a portal/Unleashes his second favorite weapon. A darkin weapon that he defeated/overcome in the past, a razor chain whip. he uses this to whip his enemies and even chaining them closer to him. you can use Q 3 times like riven, first 2 are just whips while the last one is like blitz hook but with a lesser range and can't bypass minions.

W: Makes his enemies into gold because of his power, stunning them for 1.5 second in a path like yoricks E's hit box. Passive: when enemies die while in gold form, gilgamesh will have an additional bonus gold. Gold form will be lighter yellow so that players will not be confuse to it with zhonyas.

E: Unleashes his ball of doom, A golden yoyo disco ball that he stole from a shuriman soldier that turns into spikes at its peek. It stretches in a long distance like ahri's Q and the ball will open up it spikes at he tip of its distance radius but will close upon returning to him. The yoyo can also be use in walls to pull him closer to it for his mobility. (WARNING: Can't use other abilities while using this)

Q: He opens up a portal unleashing his 1000 swords in his collection. Casting it in a range like lux R hit box, its not fast( imagine maokai's ult but a little bit faster) but will have a domino effect upon hitting the ground/enemy. Like a rain effect. Enemies will surely take huge damage when hit because of the abilities exchange for mobility.

Combo: (1v1)Q1-AA-Q2-Q3-E-W-R-AA (Team Fight)W-R-Q1-Q2-E-Q3

Overall, I like gilgamesh( a sucker for red eyed blondies with hair downwards) and i hope riot will take an inspiration out of him because a character like him is perfect fit in the lol universe.

No no no, if you want to add a character from another source to the game, keep the character with his original lore or it will be a copy of the character, not the character itself.

I imagine something like Link from Zelda in the game Soulcalibur.

I would like to see Rylai in the game... because technically she exist in the lore item 3116 .

We know a Rylai is mentioned in the non cannon gameplay. Of course its an obvious reference to the Rylai but we do not know the Rylai exists in the lore.

Well, a Rylai with a magical ice staff exist or existed in the lore. That is close enough.

Technically Rylai would be a character outside of the game, as Rylai's Crystal Scepter was named after the character Rylai from DOTA aka Crystal Maiden.

Then, Riot did not added the Joker as a character of the game... And the tittle of the thread is "What characters outside of LOL do you want to be a champion" no "What archetypes of characters do you want to be a champion"

The thing is that adding a character from another place without changing him at all is very different than adding a "rip off" of the caracter due the consequences that it would have in the lore of Runeterra as a whole. Shaco and the Joker are similar, sure... but they dont have the same background, the same story and the same goals (remember, this is the "story board")

Shaco tries to kill people for fun, as far as we know, but... What would the Joker do if he is suddenly summoned to Runeterra? Would he try to go back to his Earth? Or he would try to rule the place as Nobunaga in the "Batman Ninja" anime? Or he would go to Zaun and use the chemicals of the place to create those weird chemicals that he uses sometimes?

Or lets take Gilgamesh from fate as another example (even if i know nothing about the character)... Do you really think that he would decline a throne just because the people from Demacia fears his magic? or he would try to conquest this new world using the powers that he has? Or he could try to go back to his own world?

Sorry if i cant explain myself futher since english is not my primary language... but imagine it like those crossovers episodes were a character from a diferent place is added to a different one even if there is already a character in that place who is similar to him or her.

Sure, Chogath is similar to the Zerg... but can you imagine what would happen if the real Zergs try to invade Runeterra? that would be crazy. That is the point.

Cho is kind of more a clone of violator, with tyranid/zerg styling. But yeah I see your point. And they sort of have come to runeterra, not as an invasion persay but kog, reksai, cho, kha, (kass, malz?) and so on.

Rylai is the name of the Crystal Maiden hero from DotA. The item was named after her as a reference to Riot's previous affiliation to DotA.

Hmm, not characters so much. I want an actual knight, on a horse and with a lance and all that good stuff. I want a Roman centurion. I would like someone with a longsword/two-hander that moves like he actually knows how to use a sword (what the hell are you doing, Garen?). I want a pikeman from Demacia so we can see how the common soldiers live. I want an old withered witch character, preferably Noxian who is just really nice to everyone and calls them her "chilluns."

We need a druid. We have all these champs circling the druid drain, but we don't have anything really. I want a nature mage that has a heal.

This entire discussion is purely hypothetical.

Riot knows many ways to make a quick buck, but copying characters from other games is something even they wouldn't sink to.

Plus, I thought you moved on to HotS or something? Why do you keep stalking the League boards?

Why yes, I HAVE moved to HotS months ago. I sometimes still make a quick appearance in these forums because I used to play and love this game so much that seeing it gone down the drain makes me angry and I want to express it. Although I feel the need to express it less and less as I lose interest in this game more and more.

Also, they're about to rework Swain, who WAS one of my most favorite characters. I'm here to see just how badly they'll ruin it - because there's no doubt they will ruin the character, the only thing to figure out is just how much.

It's a fun scenario, tho, I'll admit. I haven't played League for a long time yet I still feel compelled to visit the forums.

But they don't look the same and their mobility is totally different. Ty Lee is all about dodging not about hiding like Akali. I feel like Fizz's mobility (E) is closer to Ty Lee.

I would love to see an Oathbreaker archetype make it's way into League.

I'm hoping for a character very reminiscent of Davy Jones, a man who conquered the ocean and fell in love with the goddess that governs it. Entrusted with a sworn duty, the deity shares it's power and knowledge so that they can be together. But there's a catch and things don't go quite the way the man expects, he thinks he's been betrayed because the goddess is only using him like a pawn. Breaking duty the man is cursed, effecting him mentally and physically etc. You get the picture.

Im not saying it would need to play out in that exact same way as above, but it's a general guideline for a concept anyway. I like this idea from a lore perspective, no clue how it would translate into gameplay but I imagine it would have something to do with the deity.

Natilus new mini-bio doesn't imply any oath breaking at all, in fact if he's at the will of the Bearded Lady then it's the complete opposite. New Naut comes closer to the Kraken rather than Davy himself.

Also I mentioned Davy Jones story was a guideline for an Oathbreaker concept. I don't necessarily care if he's associated to the ocean or not. So long as the idea that breaking oath or betrayal of faith has turned a compassionate man, bitter and cruel.

What ever else is just extra, but I really like Davy Jones as a character is all. Especially how he then double crossed his own love and stole her power over the seas for himself. I like how it's Man conquers Nature but in a sad love story instead.

  • But then, Lux was a direct homage to Marisa Kirisame from Touhou (her designer also says so). Similarly Youmuu's Ghostblade and Wriggle's Lantern(rip) are all homages to Touhou characters (Youmuu and Wriggle are both Touhou characters).
  • Rylai's Crystal Scepter is a homage to DotA's Crystal Maiden hero who is also called Rylai.
  • Total Biscuit of Rejuvenation is a homage to the Youtuber going by the alias of Totalbiscuit.
  • Baron Nashor is a homage to DotA's Roshan. "Nashor" is "Roshan" spelt backwards, almost, so anagram actually.
  • Gnar is almost a direct reference to well known titles such as Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and Hulk of the Marvel comics.
  • Pantheon is a clear homage to the movie 300. He even has a few quotes that clearly mentions the movie by quoting it.
  • Kayle and Morgana are modeled after Michael and Satan in classical Christian works. Kayle was also loosely based on Samus Aran from Metroid games to some extent given she was intentionally designed to have a full suit of heavy armour covering her entire body that makes her seem ambiguous in terms of her sex (it was only later that her armour in the splash art takes on a more feminine shape).
  • The Void in League is a homage to some of the classical works that would later be employed by Lovecraft in his Cthulhu mythos. This is also why all of the void creatures are given a name supposedly in the fictional language Shumarian as well as a good portion of the The Void is tied to Shurima (Malzahar, Kassadin, the lost city of Icathia etc), because Lovecraft dedicated a significant portion of the mythos in the middle eastern settings. Icathia is also the name of a lost Arabian city mentioned in the Quran and other classical middle eastern works, which would be utilised by Lovecraft, and later League.
  • Etc etc.

Just saying that League has indeed used the homage game for quite some time, and it is also not impossible for homage to also be a thing that can stand on its own.

A great deal of what you cite as examples are not "homages" but "references." There is a difference (both practically and legally).

  • Lux's numerous references to Marisa Kirisame were snuck in by Shurelia (also by her admission), and wouldn't pass legal muster these days. If a new champ designer these days tried to do what Shurelia did, they'd be stopped early in the process.
  • Wriggle's Lantern was named after a player who earned 1000 points in the old "Refer-a-Friend" system. If it was a true homage to the Touhou character, it would have been insect-based.
  • Rylai's Crystal Scepter has a similar effect to the DotA champion and was a nice inside-joke to DotA players coming into League.
  • In the same vein as Wriggle's Lantern, the TBoR was a prize for the Refer-A-Friend system for TotalBiscuit. He earned enough points to have a champion of his design included in the game, but that program was stopped because the first winner, Tim Buckley, wanted a "shark-spider" champion. Athene's Unholy Grail and Ohmwrecker are among the included items from this program.
  • Nashor and Roshan share similar mechanics (epic bosses with game-ending buffs).
  • Hyde, Hulk, and Gnar share a transforming aspect. It would take a lot more to be an "homage." "Gentleman" Gnar might be considered an homage to Jekyll and Hyde, however.
  • Pantheon's inclusion might have been inspired by 300, I can grant you that. Including the quotes, however, was part of the zeitgeist. Not many people know much about Spartan warriors, but they do know about 300.
  • There have been many references to "good angel / bad angel" in literature, and the "duality" aspect is fairly common. The whole "Samus Aran" thing, however, I find to be a bit of a stretch.
  • I'll grant you all the Void/Shurima references to Lovecraft as "homages." It never occurred to me. However, that example highlights the differences between "reference" and "homage."

  1. He would make for a nice Control Mage
  2. We don't have a Sphinx character

Max McDaniels from the Tapestry series. I can see his passive as grievous wounds (He has a sword which causes wounds that never heal, even killings gods). His ultimate would be a supernovae explosion. As for abilities... Something that buffs his strength and speed for one. I don't know what else would fit in well.
