If this artwork represents new model for Volibear I think Riot is making another anatomical nightmare. Yes, he does look cool. But now take a closer look below his waist.

His legs are both SHORTER AND THINNER than either of his arms. For real Riot? I thought we learned something in the past 10 Years.

Imagine him running at you. This is how I see it: https://media1.tenor.com/images/9c82818e04611cc764dea644a7f18507/tenor.gif?itemid=11887683

For real, I can somewhat accept that Mordekaiser needs such an appearance due to his mace, animations and all that jazz, but if this is a champion that is going to keep running towards the enemy team it will just look bad and comical to me. Pantheon was a step in somewhat the right artistic and anatomical direction. Please don't add more babylegs to this game. Ty.

Edit: Yes bear legs are shorter than their arms in some species. But they are not disproportionate like they are in this artwork. I could put 3.5 of his legs in one of his arms.

Likely that's because bears do tend to have shorter legs and he runs on all fours in his Q animation.

It is anatomically correct... mostly... for a bear.

He is a demigod, not a random animal... a spiritual being that creates thunders, anatomy is not something that matters.

and as someone said, Gorillas have no problem walking with big arms and short legs.

I wouldn't take this too serious. It's concept art, buddy. It's meant to show off a rough idea of what the direction they're taking Voli's design. It's not an 100% final look at Voli's design. It's to show us, the players, where they're taking Voli's design. That doesn't mean they got there yet. I'm sure they are going to go back & make proper adjustments. That's the point of concept art.

Also, why the hell are you comparing the anatomical direction Pantheon to Voli anyway?????? Pantheon is a straight up human. Voli is an anthropomorphic demi-god in a fantasy universe that's based on a bear. Have you even seen what a bear looks like standing on it's feet???

Having the anatomical similarities of a human should not be what you want to do when design a character based on a Bear. Unless you're going the anthro route of characters having human bodies with animal faces.

I just don't like it, I prefer big armored bear demi god

That's also concept art, I don't know if you're really in the right to flip out before you see the new skills he might have and their animations and movements.

This is just concept art.

Terozu10/18/2019, 1:47:18 AM2 votes

He's... just resting on his haunches. Those are his knees, not his whole legs.

Gentleman Yasuo10/18/2019, 1:51:40 AM2 votes

He's not hot enough. Needs more visible muscles

You haven't even seen the model and animations...you're seeing concept art. FFS chill.

Just doing a quick google search for bear skeletons (standing) you can kinda see their back legs look at bit shorter: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cave_bear#/media/File:Cave_bear_AMNH.jpg Anyway, these are early drafts, a lot of early drafts look weird in terms of poistioning and their anatomy.

Iron Phantom10/19/2019, 3:43:35 PM1 votes

You do realise Bears legs are shorter then their arms right??

Zombie Slayer10/18/2019, 12:47:14 AM1 votes

The short legs is anatomically correct since bears have longer arms and shorter legs. Volibear isnt a actual bear also hes a demi god so he doesnt have to look exactly like a bear his brother Ornn has very short legs too so unless you got upset about that theres no need to act like the short legs is a terribly bad thing. The design is also a way to give him a large upper body appearance you can see that in almost all male champions like Darius, Ornn, Mundo, etc

If they make him tankier to match his new looks then I'm all for it.

not official art

GreenLore10/18/2019, 4:57:23 PM1 votes

You know that he'd likely run on all 4s, just like the current Voli?

Gehco10/19/2019, 2:41:28 AM1 votes

he doesn't even look like a bear in that concept art.

mrmeddyman10/17/2019, 9:52:03 PM1 votes
