If Aurelion Sol were to fully break free from Targon…

Would there be anything that could stop him from wiping Runeterra off the face of existence? That is, other than Bard and, like, the god of the Void or something.

It seems to me that there are only two groups that would even know enough to try to stop him: Ryze and Targon.

Would World Runes be able to match Sol's power? Would Ryze even be able to use them to their full potential? I doubt it.

The only way Targon would be able to fight Sol would be if they were to create a new weapon. Imagine this: Aurelion Sol arrives to destroy the planet. He is greeted by Pantheon. But this time, Pantheon is ready with the Celestial Dragon-Slaying Demon-Blood True-Ice Hextech Void-Empowered Draven-Blessed Time-manipulating Black-Mist Nagakabouros Telekinetic god-Willow Wuju Mech World-Runed Spirit Chemtech Shadowy Mega Spear Ascended at his side.

But how would such a weapon be made? So yeah, is anything short of Bard and the full power of the Void able to stop Aurelion Sol?

Short of Cho'Gath I don't think there is a champion in the game that could even hope to stand up to Aurelion Sol. Targon only put him in chains through trickery. However it's a rather pointless question as Aurelion is largely benevolent. While I'm sure he would wipe Targon off the face of the universe; I don't think he harbours any ill will towards the people and creatures of runeterra.

Of course that doesn't say anything about the other cosmic horrors Aurelion mentions.

Keep in mind mount tarpon does not equal the tarpon empire. He'd bolt to wherever they are, nuke their civilization, then go on his merry way

This would be Targon's respons.

Gonna take some guesses here.

Veigar uses the power of dark matter and black holes in his spells, might be useful.

Any void monster in their final form ex. Cho'gath and Kog'maw's dad.

Illaoi 's god maybe. Unsure. Kindred representing death. They wouldn't be inclined to do so.

The demigods made by the Sun Disk: Nasus, Renekton, Azir, Xerath could try.

Nocturne is some kind of dream demon, don't know how powerful a demon is. TahmKench another demon. Shaco depending on who or what s/he really is. Zilean if his time sickness stops afflicting could help.

Those are all of the champs I could really think of.

I doubt he will be able to one-shot them, they are and inter-galactic super roman empire after all. More than likely they could have entire armies of Aspects at the ready. Meaning Aurelion Sol would need some sort of help, but most of his cosmic brethren no longer associate with him. Meaning he would have to wait until Targon in under attack by the Void, then break free and attempt to do as much damage to Targon whilst fighting the voidborn, as they naturally seek to snuff out anything of immense power. Thus making it a 1v1v1 A. Sol v Targon v The Void.

I'm curious- several comments mention Cho'Gath- did I miss something? The Void creatures all seemed fairly scary but none of them were planetary threats like Aurelion for example- unless I missed something about Cho's lore...

I daresay that Xerath, if he managed to free himself from his sarcophagus, could give Sol pause. Of course if those two were to fight, Runeterra might just get destroyed as collateral damage.

Another contender is Soraka. We don't really know much about Soraka's standing in the new lore, but she has some connection to Sol, and she's a very benevolent creature, so possibly she could appeal to his better nature.

I don't think Aurelion Sol would care about destroying Runeterra, he actually has reason to keep it intact because he doesn't like mindless destruction (see in "Twin Dawns" where he refuses to use his full power to destroy the void Rift because it owuld wipe the planet).

That being said, free of Targon influence he would storm their empire easily wiping them out.

AurelionSol is not an evil dragon if he does destroy the world its most likely by accident.Honestly it would be better if AurelionSol was unbound because his very presence attracts the attention from the void.i have a sneaking suspicion that Chogath is the void monster he felt gazing at him from the other side of the rift in his lore.AurelionSol legit says that the void creatures want to extinguish his light.
