@ Riot about Bloodmoon Kalista

I have conflicted feelings about this skin. First, I love how it looks. That is not enough to fix the fact that Kalista does not fir with the lore behind the Bloodmoon skins. For those of you that don't know about the lore, here's a summary. After the Ionia- Noxus war, there was a festival where Akali and Shen performed a play. The Bloodmoon skins are based on their costumes during this play. Here's the information told about the play from the League Wiki:

The headlining performance featured league champions Shen and Akali, who performed The Tale of Reina, a legend in which an ancient Ionian warrior is hunted by an evil spirit. Akali took the part of Reina herself, dressed in formal Ionian red and white battle garb, and Shen played the spirit that plagued her, adorned with a fearsome mask. As the legend goes, Reina fled the spirit for years, yet it always found and tormented her. Finally, Reina donned her own mask to confront the spirit, but when she turned to face it, it never came again, frightened away by her strength.

Unless Riot plans to add more to the lore behind the Bloodmoon skins, I am against it. I don't know if Riot forgot about that lore, or if they are completely getting rid of it because of the lore changes they are making, but I see no reason (other than looks) as to why they would make this skin. From what they've released so far (lorewise), It doesn't seem too promising that they will add better lore. Here's a post by BaconHawk about the skin:

"The mists swirl and part, wispy tendrils sliding hungrily across her undead arms. She pulls down her mask, silently creeping along the twisted treeline. With a hushed growl, she sends her specter to scout ahead. Its reddish glow turns the spooky green forest into an undulating mottled pattern of gray trees and black shadows. Even the moon above seems to dim. By its sinister light, she spots her prey ahead. Silently, she raises her spear back. The sharp, curved tip flows with bloody energy. With a grunt, she hurls it, and and springs forward in anticipation. Blood Moon Kalista has arrived.

  • An all new model with Blood Moon mask, new armor, new spectral scout
  • All new Blood Moon particles, with red and deep blue colors
  • A new recall animation, complete with new sounds

Join her ranks, if you are brave."

I love how the skin looks, and I would be fine with them keeping it if they just renamed it to Bloodknight Kalista like Bloodknight Hecarim and made a few slight texture updates. I see possibilities for this lore though. Kalista could have been the spirit in the story, or Reina could be one of her spirits. I personally think a Justicar skin would fit her much better than Bloodmoon. Just my thoughts on it. Plan on updating this as more things are released about the skin, if anything else is released. I am mainly posting this to get a Rioter's answer for why she has this skin. Thanks for reading :)

Well let's see here. Kalista is a spirit who hunts down people. The spirit in the legend also hunts down people. If you notice in the Blood Moon Kalista skin she is wearing the demon/spirits mask. For all you know, Kalista is the spirit of the legend. So little has been revealed about Kalista and in another thread someone mentioned how Kalista's armor and design has an Ionian feel to it, i.e the armor design, spear similar to xins and pony tail. Perhaps Kalista was an Ionian warrior betrayed by a friend and was swallowed by the Black Mist and taken to the Shadow Isles. She then enacts revenge upon people and Reina was one of those people but somehow managed to stop Kalista. It's a play based off of a legend, it's very likely it isn't 100% accurate.

I was also kinda conflicted about them making a Bloodmoon skin for Kalista. But, alas, it seems as if Riot doesn't care about any of the old lore anymore and is just ignoring/rewriting things as they please... Next thing you know, Ashe and Trynd won't even be married anymore. :\

Sad to say but, JoJ is pretty much meaningless now. I expect to see more blood moon. I'm actually hoping for one in particular.

She doesn't have to be apart of that play you know

It's a pretty well known legend, she could use it as a guise while attacking people in Ionia. The local legend of the spirit would give a lot of reluctance to going after it. She doesn't need to have been part of the play in order to impersonate the spirit :P

Think of the blue spirit guy thing Zuko pretend to be in Avatar to rescue Aang.

I agree with Diana X Me (p.s would also love a Bloodmoon Diana)

As for jax he has weapons in several of his skins, like axes and stuff.... I dont think his lore was ever that much of a priority when it comes to his choice of weapon
