Does anyone on the lore team have any ideas for Sona, at all?

I noticed her intro blurb on the Universe page is relatively new.

Sona is Demacia’s foremost virtuoso of the stringed etwahl, speaking only through her graceful chords and vibrant arias. This genteel manner has endeared her to the highborn, though others suspect her spellbinding melodies to actually emanate magic—a Demacian taboo. Silent to outsiders but somehow understood by close companions, Sona plucks her harmonies not only to soothe injured allies, but also to strike down unsuspecting enemies.

She's an adopted member of a noble Demacian family, right? If she's nobility, then how/why is she ever near injured people to heal them, or near enemies to attack? I don't figure a musician in the nobility should ever really be near any kind of conflict.

These "close companions" it mentions, who exactly are they? Sona's never appeared or even been mentioned in anyone else's lore ever, for the entirety of this game's existence. The closest we've ever gotten is her adoptive family (but not Sona herself) making a brief appearance in Quinn's bio.

The fact that Sona is STILL this entirely disconnected from the lore after all the recent Demacia lore updates is rather depressing.

Eventually, the lore team will realize this whole DEMECIA RLY HATEZZZ TEH MAGICKZZZZ HRGBLRHGLBHGH thing was a huge mistake and makes no sense considering what Demacians in the game actually do (necessary though it may have been to make Sylas and their new story for Lux work) and have to retcon everything again into something more nuanced (for example: Demacians talk a lot of trash about black magic and witchcraft when it's used for subversive purposes, but don't seem to mind magic at all when they're using it to steamroller their enemies, even if that means some collateral damage and civilian casualties).

Maybe they'll have a clearer idea what to do with Sona and it'll be safe to make her more of a part of what's happening in the world then.

So, after poking around, Sona has made two other small appearances.

She appears in the Ryze cinematic, helping him fight off some guys. As it's just a cinematic with no accompanying text, though, it doesn't actually tell us much of anything about her (besides the fact that she can fight, but her minimal lore already made that clear anyway).

Then one of Ezreal's stories mentions that she holds recitals. Which also doesn't exactly tell us much of anything about her beyond the fact that she's a musician, which we also already knew.

Hell, her skins have more lore than her canon self.

she needs a complete lore revamp as wells as new in deep voiceover, we get it, she cant talk but her voiceover (like many old champions) express close to zero of her personality, it is so hard to determine what she thinks of the world at all, even with annie you can tell she is just child that is a bit pyromaniac

she could go multiple directions, but i do hope for a more hearth warming story of nobility that show how she was voiceless until she found her true power through music, able to switch the hearths of allies and foes kinda like Melody from hunter x hunter, it isnt just a song it is a complete experience that ppl cant resist (making her ult make sense in a way)

maybe some quotes like: "i once had no voice, now i want everyone to hear" "if you listen with your heart you can hear beyond the lies" "the strings are a part of me, a part of my soul"

Well Sona still exists in the limbo that is the deletion of the League of Legends.

As it stands, despite all these Demacia updates and perfect chances to update Sona's lore we still have the absolute bare bones amount of lore for her.

Meanwhile Fiddlesticks has a color story. Fiddlesticks has more lore than Sona.

Also, on an unrelated note, I read Sona's old League Judgment.

It seemed to paint her as sad about her place in the world, and wanting to be noticed. This clearly isn't the case anymore, obviously, since the new blurb calls her a "foremost virtuoso", implying a good deal of renown on her part. Which puts us back at square one of knowing absolutely nothing about her.
