Not every parasite thinks about taking over the host, in fact, parasite generally want to not harm the host as much as possible, or even better they benefit each other; because if the host is finished, so are they.
That said, I do still think Riot went a bit lazy regarding the nature and characterisation of the "suit" and its interaction with the girl. This is even more troubling because the name "Kai'Sa" probably belongs to the suit rather than the girl, given the suit is all the others see since the girl supposedly have it covered her entire body almost all the time. The lack of characterisation is also a bit of an issue when one needs an answer on how the girl even ran into it in the first place, and what kind of contract they even formed, considering this might be a bit difficult to get through if the suit is straight up non-sentient; and if the suit does have the mind of its own, why doesn't it have any presence in dialogues and whatnot?

Problem here is that you're anthropomorphising something that's totally inhuman. We don't know if it has any form of self-awareness. Given the way Kai talks about it in the VO, it sounds like she views it more as an object than a partner (or rival). Hell, Fishbones has more characterization than this thing.

I am just assuming it to be a void creature that is self aware and intelligent and is it's own entity. Kinda reminded me of Kayne. The first thing that came to my mind when I saw Kaisa wearing that creature on her skin is Venom. Despite not speaking at all in the VO, I really can't come to that conclusion that it's just an object. If I recall, Venom and Carnage, both symbiotes, never spoke, but they were intelligent and were their own thing thus chose their own host, Venom chose Eddie Brock and Carnage chose Cletus Cassidy. They chose their respective hosts based on the fact that they knew that they would bond with them and they share a common goal. If it needs to feed then it is pretty much alive and has needs. I would like to believe that Kaisa made a pact with a void entity that bonded to her allowing her to live in the void freely without any danger to her human self at the same time for a favor, that is, it makes Kaisa hunt and feed it to sustain itself. Aside from that, maybe it made her to some other things in the past that were not mentioned.
